Job Description

Purpose:

The Senior Laboratory Coordinator, under general supervision, oversees daily laboratory research activities. Oversees equipment installation, operations, maintenance, and documentation of lab equipment, training of lab employees operating on pertinent equipment or lab techniques, grant writing and project execution, as well as oversee lab safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

* Coordinates and oversees the daily activities in a laboratory, including staff support and quality control.

* Oversees equipment installation, operation, maintenance, and documentation (including methods and standard operating procedures) of lab equipment.

* Assists with longer?term lab organizational efforts.

* Maintains lab supplies and other research equipment.

* Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness. Oversees lab safety protocols.

* Trains lab employees on pertinent equipment or lab techniques.

* Participates in grant writing and project execution.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

What we need:

* Bachelor's degree in Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Plus five years of experience

What is helpful:

* Ph.D. in Biology, Biotechnology, Industrial Microbiology or related field.

* Advanced formal training including laboratory skills in the areas of microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry.

* Experience in implementing good laboratory safety practices

* Experience in drafting research grants.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

* Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding
