Job ResponsibilitiesThe major responsibilities of this position are:
- Work with engineers to develop and document testing procedures
- Execute a wide variety of testing programs with attention to detail
- Analyze test data and generate standard and custom testing reports
- Manage incoming orders and customer communication on standard testing jobs
- Develop and maintain experience on wide variety of different types of testing and analytical equipment
- Provide guidance and basic training to co-op employees (students)
- Manage a variety of different simultaneous tasks

- Set-up, operate and monitor, and manage multiple different simultaneous testing programs
- Generate accurate and on-time test reports

Skills:
- Experience in setting up and operating various test equipment and programs, as well as data analysis and reporting
- Strong computer and data analysis skills, including use of MS Office software (word, excel, email) or equivalent
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
- Good hands on (electro-mechanical) skills
- Strong collaboration, teamwork, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
- Self-motivated, with interesting in learning new skills
- Strong organizational skills and house-keeping ethic
Preferred QualificationsPreferred qualifications include:
- Associates degree is strongly preferred
- Exposure to printing equipment and processes, and print quality testing
- Experience as a technician in a manufacturing environment (quality assurance, metrology, materials laboratory, equipment repair, etc)
- Familiarity with basic statistical principles
- Familiarity with operating/maintaining electro-mechanical equipment
- Experience in installing, calibrating, debugging sensors
- Experience with data acquisition software and systems

The person in this position will leverage experience in set-up and execution of a wide variety of laboratory tests, including analysis of data and generating high quality test reports for GIS customers. The work may include operation of prototype fluid/thermal manufacturing processes, test equipment for electro-mechanical devices, and evaluation of printing system quality. GIS technicians work with experienced engineering staff to both develop and execute testing programs, and attention to detail and quality of work are most important, while prior exposure to a wide variety of different types of testing is beneficial. Interest and ability in diverse work assignments, and ability to learn on the job, are critical to the position.
