Job Summary: Senior Land Use Planner

Clarke Caton Hintz seeks a Planner with a minimum of 5 years' experience who shares our passion for creative planning and design within a variety of contexts. The Planner will manage and collaborate on a variety of planning projects related to municipal entities and other public and private clients. Projects include master planning, redevelopment, affordable housing planning, urban design, zoning ordinances, environmental analysis and evaluation of development proposals. Ideal candidates will have an interest in comprehensive planning, sustainability, form-based codes, green infrastructure, transit-oriented development, land preservation/conservation, mobility, public policy and robust stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Articulating project scopes
  • Developing project schedules and tasks
  • Researching and analyzing documents and conditions relating to planning projects
  • Development of public outreach material and methods
  • Writing and assembling reports and documents using text and graphics, as appropriate
  • Organizing and participating in meetings with clients, stakeholders, public and approving authorities
  • Managing elements of projects, colleagues, allied professionals and sub-consultants to facilitate development and completion of projects
  • Public presentations, outreach and testimony

Requirements

  • AICP Certification
  • Master's Degree in Community, Regional, Urban or City Planning (strongly preferred)
  • 3 years or more of relevant planning experience
  • Knowledge of planning best practices and concepts
  • Ability to organize and present data in an efficient and clear manner
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Excel, being essential for day-to-day work
  • Graphic skill, experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is desirable, but not required
  • Strong organizational skills and personal initiative
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively within a team of planners, landscape architects, architects, graphic designers and GIS experts
  • NJ professional planning license and AICP membership preferred, or the ability to take each exam within a reasonable time.
