New York, NY Hybrid

The Law Clerk III Senior Division of Enforcement shall provide legal research and litigation support to the Security Exchange Commission (SEC), Division of Enforcement. The SEC's Division of Enforcement utilizes a variety of data that contain current, historical and futures information about sensitive public company data, mutual fund data, and trade/quote data.

Responsibilities

Assists attorneys with all phases of the litigation process.Performs complex legal research for trial staff.Reviews documents for relevance and privilegeCompiles case materials.Assists in the preparation or prepares draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law.Organizes information for legal forms and documents including complaints, declarations, discovery requests, responses, and other pleadings.Conducts complex legal research and analysis for trial staff.Reviews evidence, takes witness statements, and assists in trial preparations and investigations.Travel may be required.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Law degree from an ABA-accredited law schoolPassed the bar exam in one of the 50 U.S. States or the District of ColumbiaMinimum six (6) years of relevant experience with a specialty in Litigation (trial).Ability to provide a favorable credit history

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as legal software such as Lexis Nexis and/or Westlaw.Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills.Possess sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems.Documented litigation trial experience to include interviewing witnesses.Experience drafting and reviewing various legal documents such as motions, briefs, subpoenas, legal memoranda, and correspondence for attorneys with theAbility to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations.Experience proofreading and cite-checking briefs and other materials.Knowledge of e-discovery procedures and resources.Experience conducting various types of research related to laws, legal articles, and other information relevant to a case using Lexis Nexis or Westlaw.Possess a keen sense of accountability and taking ownership over projects.Be a critical thinker who displays a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing work product.Ability to work effectively in an extremely pressured environment independently and as part of a team.Ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects, flexibility in shifting focus.May oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
