We have an immediate opportunity for an senior government affairs professional who is experienced in leveraging their deep and trusted relationships in the House, Senate and the executive branch to help clients achieve their objectives.
You will be based in Washington D.C. and have an extensive network of contacts in the White House, government agencies, Congress and among party operatives.
APCO is a leader in developing compelling campaigns and narratives that advance clients' interests, and you will be instrumental in identifying and engaging the people that matter most to those interests. To do this, you will bring many years of experience working within the U.S. government and a strong network of trusted contacts. You will be a credible and respected professional who is connected with relevant political leaders and policymakers.
You understand the inner mechanics of government and how interest groups - associations, companies, nonprofits and others - are able to influence policymaking and decisions, while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
APCO works extensively in a variety of areas, including trade and investment; health; technology, semiconductors and AI; food and agriculture; energy; manufacturing; defense and national security; among others. You have expert knowledge of one or more of these issue areas and will be ready to activate your knowledge and networks in service of diverse client needs.
You know how to work with executive-level clients and their teams, and have a positive, go-getter attitude that wins the confidence of clients and inspires teams.
Responsibilities:
* Engage with senior policy makers, elected officials and federal government officials to advance clients' interests.
* Gather intelligence and develop insights about relevant issues as the foundation for lobbying and campaigning
* Develop and execute multi-faceted, public affairs and policy advocacy strategies to solve client issues and support their growth priorities
* Advise APCO's high profile clients a range of issues related to Congress and the Administration
* Manage, nurture and grow client relationships including overseeing client projects, supervising project teams, and delegating work effectively
* Write compelling client deliverables, including memos, briefings and PowerPoint presentations
* Establish and maintain APCO's reputation as a valuable solutions provider and trusted business partner
* Be willing to register as a lobbyist on behalf of clients.
Qualifications:
* At least 15+ years of related experience working in Congress, the White House, federal agencies or other branches of U.S. government
* A wide network of relevant contacts and a willingness to engage on behalf of clients
* Experience interfacing successfully with companies and other private interest groups
* Exceptional writing and analytical skills, and the ability to write concisely under tight deadlines
* Demonstrated ability to lead strategic engagements related to complex, multidimensional issues
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
Compensation Range:
The US base salary for this position ranges from $180,000/year to $300,000/year. Our compensation range for this role is inclusive of several US geographic markets. APCO targets an employee's pay within this range to be based on several factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, internal equity and/or geographic location.
