Our client, a well-established, reputable, and international international hedge fund, is looking to appoint a Senior Legal Counsel to join the team.

This position is based in the expanding New York office, where you'll act as the sole legal resource in the United States, working alongside senior Investment Officers from across New York and integrating with the global Legal & Compliance team. The Legal and Compliance team plays a crucial role across all business areas.

This opportunity would suit an experienced attorney with excellent academics who is looking to take on more responsibility and be part of an established & reputable hedge fund on its continued growth journey.

Primary Responsibilities

• Offer legal counsel and support to senior Investment Officers across multiple asset classes.
• Provide strategic legal insights, particularly in derivatives.
• Anticipate potential legal risks and develop preventive strategies.
• Draft, assess, and negotiate a broad range of legal documents and contracts.
• Collaborate with the US Compliance Officer and the international Legal & Compliance team.
• Act as the subject matter expert on New York and U.S. regulations, ensuring full organizational compliance.
• Monitor and assess regulatory updates, advising on necessary adaptations to business operations.

Required Skills, Experience & Expertise

• Preferred background includes prior in-house legal experience, with experience in banking or asset management beneficial.
• Required proficiency derivatives.
• Expertise in Credit & Equities is ideal, but not essential.
