JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Logistics is responsible for performing duties as assigned by the Director of Logistics involving the logistics of moving all freight including merchandise to the distribution centers and to stores. This position may assume all job-related responsibilities in the absence of the Director. The Senior Manager, Logistics will play a critical role in building a positive work culture, driving employee involvement, and supporting change management efforts within the retail organization.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reduce transit time to stores for all product shipping from Distribution Centers to the stores.
- Exceed distribution financial standards by evaluating key performance indicators (KPI) and the development of a standardized operation procedure.
- Directing investigations to verify and resolve carrier complaints.
- Ensures all freight moves timely, accurately, and cost effectively.
- Maintains knowledge and ability to perform the job duties of staff subordinates.
- Maintains strong communication skills with all management and personnel regarding business and job requirements.
- Liaisons with the Store Operation organization to track, plan, and optimize store deliveries.
- Enforce Claims Process to ensure all carriers are charged for lost/damaged merchandise.
- Seeks opportunities to improve processes or reduce costs associated with the process.
- Advises on HR issues as per company policy.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and understand documents such as general correspondences, purchase orders, and office procedures/memos. The ability to communicate effectively with employees and management of the company is essential to this job.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, computer science, transportation, or related field. M.B.A. preferred but not required.
- Expert level knowledge of transportation and merchandise distribution techniques, specifically DC to Store operations.
- General knowledge of entire distribution process to effectively manage and optimize all logistics processes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee must frequently use their hands to handle or feel objects and must be able to speak and hear clearly.
- The employee may occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
- The employee must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
