Summary of Position: The Senior Maintenance Engineer will support aircraft/helicopter development through certification and into service, by generating and reviewing maintenance content, interfacing with other departments, and developing and implementing a maintenance program. We are looking for a self-starter who can plan and lead joint Leonardo/FAA/Customer maintenance steering group.2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities: % of Time1.Develop maintenance program tasks and intervals using the Maintenance Steering Group (MSG-3) methodology302.Prepare/coordinate Maintenance Steering Group (MSG-3) analysis with company, customer and FAA participants to:
Ensure realization of inherent safety and reliability levels of the aircraft.Restore safety and reliability to their inherent levels when deterioration has occurred.Obtain the information necessary for design improvement of those items whose inherent reliability proves inadequate.Accomplish these goals at a minimum total cost, including maintenance costs and the costs of resulting failures.203.Conduct engineering analysis to support maintenance program deliverables and determine appropriate maintenance tasks and intervals104.Schedule and lead Maintenance Steering Group (MSG-3) reviews with company, customer and FAA participants105.Work very closely with systems, safety, and design engineers and flight test to develop detailed maintenance procedures and ensure maintenance-related assumptions are valid 106.Generate and manage complex sets of maintenance related requirements through the entire development life cycle, including safety-derived maintenance requirements to ensure regulatory compliance is met107.Outline and implement a program for developing maintenance tasks and intervals for certification and company maintenance requirements identified through System Safety Assessments, Zonal Safety Assessments, and other design verification activities108. Qualifications for Position: A. EducationBachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical discipline; Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering preferred B. ExperienceAt least 5 years of aviation or defense industry experience, preferably in reliability/safety/maintainability role. C. Competencies & Attributes1.Prior experience as an aircraft mechanic would be an asset2. Has an expert level understanding of the maintenance steering group approach to maintenance program development (MSG-3)3.Able to create, read, and review technical schematics and engineering drawings and specifications4.Has an expert level understanding of normal category aircraft and their systems, airplanes and/or rotorcraft5.Has a working knowledge of SAE ARP 4761, SAE ARP 4754A, and 2X.1309 compliance6.Has excellent problem solving, communication, coordination, and technical writing skills7.Able to analyze safety, reliability, and operational data and engineering specifications to perform detailed maintenance analyses and assessments8.Proficient with Microsoft Office9.Has an expert level understanding of normal category aircraft and their systems, airplanes and/or rotorcraftEqual Opportunity Employer/Vet/Disability
