So, if you are looking to share your skills in support of our mission, we would like to hear from you!As the Senior Maintenance Technician, you will be working as part of a team of other non-union Maintenance Technicians responsible for the day-to-day operations and on-going upkeep, improvement and functionality of all Guiding Eyes properties, located in Yorktown Heights, Patterson, and White Plains. This includes buildings, grounds, vehicles and ancillary support equipment. The role includes ensuring that all duties are performed according to established Company and environmental, health & safety standards (EH&S). Key is to ensure that all infrastructure systems, buildings, and grounds work in harmony for an enjoyable work environment; seamless facility management across the organization will allow employees to focus on their priority activities, goals and the mission.You will be active and hands-on but the role will also require desk time for computer work such as, but not limited to, creating reports and spreadsheets, coding invoices, maintenance ticket management, etc.The Role
- Perform daily assessments of systems, maintaining a clean working environment and other various duties as assigned by the Chief Facilities Engineer, including, but not limited to routine repairs of buildings; Canine Kennels and Veterinary Hospitals, equipment, and other property.
- Through the work-order request system, ensure timely and accurate completion of corrective and preventative work orders as well as associated paperwork; able to prioritize effectively when juggling multiple requests and needs - efficiency is key.
- Schedule and oversee vendors/subcontractors while onsite to perform work. Ensure work scopes are adhered to in a high-quality manner.
- Perform routine weekly, monthly and quarterly maintenance tasks as scheduled.
- May perform light janitorial duties including mopping spills, spot cleaning and emptying trash as requested. General clean-up of grounds, walkways and parking areas as needed; assisting with snow removal in designated areas as needed; spackling/painting.
- Support safe and basic care of transportation fleet; transportation of Company vehicles to repair shop.
- Special events coordination including set-up/break-down of furniture & equipment.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, stoop, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to climb stairs and ladders and work on rooftops.
- Physically able to lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds of office or facilities equipment at higher than chest level.
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate extreme temperature changes.
Competencies and Qualifications You Will Have
- High School diploma or equivalent; HVAC License, Technical/Union schooling or College degree a plus.
- Five (5) years experience as a Maintenance Technician/Mechanic in a Commercial office building, or employment in the Mechanical trades required. HVAC preventative maintenance experience is also a plus - in an office building environment or employment in the HVAC trade.
- Proficiency using general power tools, hand tools, meters and testing devices.
- Ability to operate and conduct basic troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) equipment including chillers, HVAC units, generators, etc.
- Completion of OSHA 10-Hour General or Construction training/certification preferred.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as Adobe; Salesforce savvy a plus
- Good organizational skills and a disciplined approach to daily activities; takes a sense of ownership and pride in all aspects of the job.
- Ability to show initiative when problems are presented.
- Self-driven, highly motivated and disciplined, yet flexible; able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment that has frequently changing/conflicting priorities and deadlines, which may require reprioritization of daily operations. Able to manage time wisely and remain productive while working independently.
- Professional demeanor with strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills a must.
- Possess a 'Customer Service' attitude; position routinely engages with Management and Staff in-person, on the phone, through Teams chat, and/or via written communication (typically email/work-order tickets).
- Ability to read, write and understand English; follow written and oral instructions without direct supervision.
- Possess high standards that carry value and appreciation for employees and teams; positive attitude and strong work ethic grounded in honesty and integrity.
- Proven track record of attendance and reliability.
- Flexibility in availability is a must; ability to cover on-call nights, occasional evenings and/or weekends and overtime when necessary based on scheduled events, special projects or facility emergencies.
- Able to respond to the sites within one (1) hour, when necessary/during emergencies; living within 35 miles of our Yorktown Heights location is preferred.
- Must have a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Must be comfortable around large, active dogs
