Job Description:

Public Works Partners is looking for a strategic and analytical leader to lead high-profile consulting engagements with Organizational Health clients, including nonprofit organizations and public sector agencies. Senior Managers deliver dynamic consulting engagements, simultaneously managing eight to twelve projects that are diverse in size and scale, collaborating with clients to understand their needs, and designing solutions that will help our clients carry out their missions. They establish the vision for the projects they lead, shape deliverables, and conduct quality assurance, ensuring successful project outcomes and a positive experience for all our clients.

As a member of the firm's senior team, the Senior Manager will play a key role in supporting the company's growth and cultivating new clients, contributing to business development and internal firm management activities. Senior Managers also supervise three to five staff members. This position demands a vision for building out a robust, mission-oriented consulting practice, creative problem-solving, and an entrepreneurial mindset. The ideal Senior Manager should be innovative and curious, a superb communicator, adept people manager, and expert in their field. They would also have experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.

Essential for your success:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple diverse activities simultaneously, deliver on commitments, and operate with speed, accuracy, and strong judgment
  • Demonstrated success keeping projects on time and on budget, including experience using standard project management tools and approaches to monitor a project's progress
  • Strong customer focus and ability to discern and meet the needs of a diverse client base
  • Demonstrated experience managing and coaching teams to successful project outcomes, including leading teams through ambiguous situations and providing tools and/or strategies to help team members develop skills and expertise
  • Experience working with populations that reflect the diversity of New York City and State, and engaging with communities and stakeholders on a range of sensitive issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to communicate concisely and persuasively and represent the firm among a variety of audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to negotiate complex multi-stakeholder environments and effectively communicate with client and external stakeholders, including representatives from federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, and experience giving instruction to staff regarding data collection, organization, cleaning, and analysis
  • Strong ability and enthusiasm for building new client relationships and advancing business development efforts; prior experience in fundraising, proposal writing, and/or developing scopes of work preferred
  • Documented subject matter expertise in one or more of the following:
    • Program design & implementation
    • Performance management, including data capture and the creation and management of performance monitoring tools
    • Nonprofit or public sector financial management
    • Social services, economic development, workforce development, and/or education
  • Eight to ten years of progressive professional experience working with non-profit organizations and/or government agencies; supervisory positions preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field; graduate degree in public policy or administration, management, or related field preferred

This position is based at the Public Works Partners office in New York City; the team has a flexible hybrid work schedule. Travel to events in New York City and other locations may be required.
