About the teamThe Strategy & Operations department is led by the CEO and comprises the Strategy and Operations teams. Through the Strategy & Operations team's work, internal and external stakeholders move with a shared vision, mission, and strategy - ultimately deepening the impact of the organization. Specifically, this team supports and guides B Lab U.S. & Canada through infrastructure-building, strategic sensemaking, alignment, proposal development, resource deployment, and implementation. All of this happens in close collaboration with each team/department, consultants, partners, the global B Lab network, and business leaders in the B Corp community.About this opportunity The Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial planning, forecasting, and analysis activities. This role reports to the CEO and has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Director of Finance at B Lab Global, who also serves as Treasurer for B Lab U.S. & Canada. The position involves collaborating with the Head of Finance for Network Transformation, will be a member of the Global Network Business Model Working Group and will work closely with the B Lab U.S. & Canada department heads and senior management to provide actionable insights, develop financial models, and drive data-driven decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SaaS business models and be able to contribute to the strategic growth and financial sustainability of the organization. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Financial Planning & Forecasting
    • Develop, maintain, and improve financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts, including revenue, expense with a focus on employee run rates, and cash flow projections.
    • Analyze financial results against forecasts and budgets, providing insights into variances and trends.
    • Represent B Lab U.S. & Canada in the Global Network Business Model Working Group and contribute to the network financial models and scenario planning.
  • Reporting & Analysis
    • Generate and distribute regular financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, including key performance indicators (KPIs), financial summaries, and variance analysis.
    • Support the preparation of board presentations and other executive reports.
    • Analyze business performance metrics, including customer acquisition costs (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), churn rates, and other SaaS-specific metrics.
    • Financial storytelling and outlook to be shared with the Finance Committee and Board quarterly.
  • Data Management & Integrity
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency in financial systems.
    • Manage and optimize financial data collection processes and reporting tools to streamline FP&A activities.
    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company's financial systems and data sources.
    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of team expense reports and manager approvals for month-end reconciliations.
  • Strategic Initiatives & Projects
    • Partner with department heads to develop financial models and business cases for new initiatives, product launches, and strategic projects.
    • Conduct scenario analysis to assess the financial impact of potential business decisions.
    • Participate in special projects, market research, pricing strategy reviews, and system implementations.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to enhance FP&A processes, tools, and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, particularly those relevant to SaaS and certification entities, to inform financial strategies.
Major objectives/Project for the role in the first 6-12 months
  • Represent B Lab U.S. & Canada in the B Lab Global Network Business Model Working Group
  • Enhance our monthly reconciliation process and build new forecasting models
  • Oversee departmental expense management and identify opportunities for efficiencies
  • Review budget guidelines and support senior management in 2025 forecasting and staffing
  • Finalize the 2025 forecast and make recommendations based on scenarios to the CEO and board of directors
  • Evaluate opportunities for efficiencies in financial reporting, related operations and consult on shared services staffing plan in place with B Lab Global
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in FP&A, preferably within a SaaS or technology-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS business models, including key metrics and drivers.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with financial planning software and ERP systems (e.g., Adaptive Insights, NetSuite).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with leveraging Salesforce for reporting and dashboard design
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Compensation DetailsB Lab has a compensation plan that includes:
  • A monthly salary of $8,400 for candidates based in New York, NY
  • Excellent health benefits package including access to medical, vision and dental coverage
  • Paid time off for vacation - in your first year, you'll start with 15 days (prorated in a to your start date)
