We are looking for a senior manager who will serve as a global leader in cable manufacturing engineering and as a technical resource with a breadth and depth of knowledge of production processes. This role is located on-site at our Catawba, NC facility.
How You'll Help Us Connect the World:
This role will aid all cable facilities in achieving site and regional goals. In this role, you will drive standards for manufacturing equipment and processes, guide teams for projects that span across sites, and support the global operations lead in the execution of that strategy. As a cable process technologist, this role will give advanced engineering support to any factory and its engineering staff when challenges are unable to be resolved locally and swiftly. Other responsibilities include:
- Support global factories as a technical leader in all aspects of cable process manufacturing, such as drawing, twinning, bunching, coloring, ribboning, stranding, and extrusion for copper, coax, CIC, and fiber optic cable.
- Lead collaborative discussions between leadership and key stakeholders to determine capabilities and goals.
- Develops and delivers cost savings to the business and draft capital appropriation requests to support project needs and manage capital of approved projects as necessary
- Develops manufacturing technology roadmaps and executes actions as appropriate
- Drives consistent manufacturing processes that are used across internal and external factories, including best safety practices
- Champions Lean methodologies that are deployed to drive continuous improvement (CI)
- Own the relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEM)
- Support the product transfer process (PTP) as a sponsor or technical lead depending on the project need
- Manage manufacturing process assets globally
- Support sensitive projects such as plant/product exodus and acquisitions of new products/businesses.
- Leverage the DMAIC tool kit as needed for the challenge at hand
- Provide technical sustaining support throughout the life of the product
- Actively mentors and teaches senior-level engineers and managers
- Creates and leads a culture of continuous learning and experimentation while keeping safety at the forefront
- Provides guidance and complex subject matter training in the field of cable process extrusion, tooling design and cable manufacturing
- Applying cable standards such as IEC, ICEA, and GR documents when creating or revising cable products and processes
- Directly manage a team or teams of technical resources
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
- Fifteen or more years of experience in cable manufacturing
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent four years of experience
- Experienced in directly supervising technical resources and teams
- Technical knowledge of fiber, coax, and copper cable products & processes, including product specifications & testing.
- Working knowledge of statistical methods and process capability, ability to apply statistical tools – Minitab, cpk, GR&R, DOE... Lean manufacturing practices (Kanban, Poke-Yoke, JIT, Value Stream Mapping)
- Ability to travel internationally for one to four weeks each quarter, typically in consecutive weeks.

- Six Sigma green belt certified a plus.
