Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles (BBBSLA) seeks a talented, high energy leader to serve as the Agency's Special Events Fundraising Manager.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Senior Manager of Corporate Major Gifts will grow our funding opportunities within the corporate sector by recruiting and retaining corporate donors who support BBBSLA annually through event sponsorship, in-kind donations, program sponsorship fees and partnerships, employee giving and other annual financial support. The Senior Manager of Corporate Major Gifts will identify, engage with, cultivate, solicit, and steward business donors. This role will also manage local relationships with national partners (cause-marketing, customer point of sale activations, etc.). An ability to empathize with donors and clearly communicate our organization's mission is key. This is a full-time, benefits eligible, hybrid work position with a mix of virtual and in-office work. The position also requires travel for face-to-face meetings with corporate partners and prospects.

Recruit and Retain Corporate Donors

  • Meet personal annual revenue targets by working with an assigned portfolio of donors and new prospects. The target for this portfolio is eight hundred seventy-five thousand to one million annually.
  • Conduct research on prospective and current donors, assessing mission-match, propensity, and capacity for support.
  • Understand varying individual corporate giving priorities in order to identify potential synergies between donors and BBBSLA mission funding opportunities.
  • Participate in creating custom fundraising plans to increase each corporate donor's annual support.
  • Think creatively to provide corporate donors with opportunities that provide value to both parties, such as employee volunteer opportunities and marketing and media collaborations.
  • Proactively steward corporate donors toward appropriate funding opportunities like event-sponsorships and program-sponsorships; adhering to organizational and donor deadlines, and coordinating with Senior Leadership, Special Events Fundraising Manager, various Program Staff and others to ensure a positive outcome for all involved.
  • Work with Development & Marketing to develop compelling custom proposals, presentations and results-focused reports for individual corporate supporters.
  • Understand and present accurate budgets and expense reports to corporate donors as necessary.
  • Make appropriate, clear and compelling solicitations of corporate donor contacts.
  • Work closely with Senior Leadership, the Special Events Fundraising Manager and other Development staff to draft and execute corporate benefits and recognition.
  • Conceptualize and execute stewardship events, recruitment events, and networking events for current and prospective corporate partners.
  • Work with board members and other supporters to prospect corporations from their unique networks.
  • Keep appropriate board members, volunteer leaders and staff up to date on progress and support needs.
  • Work well both independently and collaboratively.

Manage Local Relationships with National Corporate Partners

  • Engage with national Big Brothers Big Sisters staff to understand current contracts and agreements with national partners, focusing on local partner expectations and BBBSLA staff bandwidth.
  • Attend in-person or virtual kick-off meetings, rallies and other events in support of Los Angeles locations of national partners.
  • Maintain clear donor records of local activity and local contacts for national partners.
  • Understand and present clear fundraising goals, outcomes and other results of national partnerships and local activations to new partners.
  • Provide local contacts with tools, education and support to ensure greatest funding opportunities and positive experiences for both parties.
  • Fulfill grant requirements for local activation of national partnerships.

Miscellaneous

  • Utilize event websites (Classy) and maintain donor databases (Salesforce), keeping all records current.
  • Assist with bi-monthly system audits for event donations in conjunction with the Development Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 6+ years of work experience in Fund Development, Advancement or Corporate Management roles at non-profit organizations. Transferable skills will be considered when coupled with significant nonprofit fundraising experience or education.
  • Good interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills.
  • Strong listening and retention skills.
  • High level of organization and exceptional time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and problem solve with a solution-based mindset.
  • Aptitude to innovate and remain creative.
  • Maintenance of a positive, energetic, and professional demeanor with BBBSLA staff, Board members, donors, volunteers, and families.
  • Ability to track and analyze success metrics.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit best practices and trends.
  • Demonstrated advanced computer literacy with MS Office programs and CRM platforms.
  • Proactive and ambitious nature.
  • Willing to travel locally and nationally, as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for events and meetings.
  • Emotionally mature with a sense of humor.
