A BRIEF OVERVIEWThe Senior Operations Manager ensures that Safety, Production, and Quality metrics for the site are met by collaborating cross-functionally with Safety, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Continuous Improvement, and Human Resources. Coordinates with leadership team to develop and execute manufacturing, capital equipment, and talent strategies for the site. The Senior Operations Manager reports to the Site Leader. The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for leadership of the Production Operations Supervisors across multiple shifts.WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Leads operations in accordance with established principles, policies, and procedures.
- Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, employee performance, product quality and delivery.
- Participates in plant communication/department meetings daily and facilitates daily review meeting, including floor GEMBA walks across production floor.
- Support all shifts as needed to build and maintain a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Utilizes knowledge of Lean thinking and continuous improvement to build a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement, including A3 Problem Solving methodology, to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Resource management to achieve both goal and budget objectives. Adherence to overtime, labor and material requirements.
- Supports quality and compliance through utilization of Orchid's processes and complying with all Quality Management System (QMS) documentation requirements.
- Establishes/supports short-term and long-term plan(s) to meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Controllable Costs, and On-Time Delivery.
- Safety mindset to support and lead safety deliverables and initiatives to ensure employees work safely. Addresses non-compliance in a timely matter. Partners with operations team and safety to review and continuously improve the safe operation of all processes and equipment.
- Leadership of supervisors and production employees directly engaged in shop-floor process or operations.
- Ensures that site metrics are achieved through process and performance management.
- Collaborates in the development and implementation of procedures and ensures compliance. Supports the development of compliance procedures.
- Addresses employee issues, escalates and/or redirects as needed. Involves and consults with Human Resources. Participates in the selection of talent for organization. Participates in employment decisions.
- Manages employee performance. Recognition of high performance and accountability for underperforming employees. Writes and delivers performance evaluations and development plans.
- Ensures Orchid Training Processes are followed and that all team members have the required knowledge and skills prior to performing job duties independently, including conducting, documenting, and evaluating training effectiveness.
- Fosters development of team using Orchid's Front Line Leadership Framework.
- Plant Operations Management
- Manages operations in accordance with principles, policies and procedures established by the company.
- Strives to meet and exceed budgeted production and financial goals.
- Reviews production levels for on-time delivery and past due orders.
- Analyzes aggregate capacity utilization on a regular basis and makes recommendations for the purchase of new equipment.
- Integrates Lean thinking into the culture and organization.
- Leads continuous improvement projects and execution of capital projects.
- Interacts with and positively influences current and potential customers during site visits.
- Maintains a safe work environment and ensures health, safety, and environmental procedures are consistently followed.
- Strategic Management
- Develops and launches short and long-term manufacturing plans, ensuring fulfillment of customer and quality expectations.
- Contributes information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing appropriate countermeasures for KPIs; identifying and resolving problems. - Works with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the company's growth objectives.
- Talent Management

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor (Required)
- Master (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ Years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Required)
- Exposure to integrated business planning (Sales & Operations Planning process), quality system deployment, and lean manufacturing in an industrial setting (Preferred)
- Demonstrated Results in Developing Talent, Organizational Strategies, and Management Systems in a High Revenue Growth Environment (Preferred)
- 5+ years of experience leading others/teams (Required)
- 5+ years of experience in CNC Machining Operations (Preferred)
- FDA Regulatory experience (Preferred)
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Project Management Professional (PMP) - Practice Management Institute (PMI) (Preferred)
- Lean Manufacturing Certification (Six Sigma, Toyota Production System, World Class Manufacturing) (Preferred)
