Responsibilities for this PositionJoin General Dynamics Mission Systems as a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer focused on aerospace composites and machined parts. We build military and commercial radomes, aerostructures, and modular shelters, working closely with companies such as Boeing, Lockheed-Martin, and Raytheon, as well as the Navy, Air Force, and Army. In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods, operation sequences, and processes for parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. You will collaborate with design engineering to release new products and estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements. Your expertise will help improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, and production equipment. Additionally, you will lead quality initiatives using Six Sigma methodology, document procedures, and provide process analysis for new business opportunities. The role involves working closely with hourly personnel, applying craftsmanship-like techniques, and ensuring competitive and cost-effective processes. What you bring to the table:- A Bachelors degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, a related specialized area or field (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and electrical/mechanical components, systems and applications
- Solid understanding of lean techniques and statistical analysis
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to interface with both management-level personnel as well as hourly employees
