Job Overview

The Marketplace Senior Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the marketplace team in their journey to analyze, understand and positively impact the business. The analyst investigates the impact of marketing, funnel metrics, consumer behavior and pricing on Macy's vendor-driven marketplace. They are responsible for assisting in business-driven ad-hoc requests, aggregating and interpreting numerous data sources, all to understand and enhance the ever-changing assortment mix and eCommerce strategy within a new and exciting vertical.

What You Will Do

  • Provide thought leadership in analytics to the marketplace team, cross-functional partners, and leadership through thoughtful analysis into digital sales, customer behavior, funnel metrics and marketing tactics
  • Take the lead on both reactive and proactive ad-hoc analyses across the business to identify problems, opportunities and ways to maximize marketplace profitability and growth potential
  • Aggregates and transforms the team's data needs into simplified, effective reporting and dashboards through close collaboration with Data Governance and Business Intelligence
  • Plays a critical part in managing the Marketplace's optimal assortment mix through frequent meetings with merchant partners and SKU Gating, Tiering and Rationalization exercises

Skills You Will Need

Data Analysis: Strong proficiency in data analysis and query tools such as SQL, Python, or R as well as data visualization/reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau and Adobe Analytics.

Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to perform complex data analysis and transform findings into actionable business decisions for audiences with different levels of data literacy

Comfort with Uncertainty: An individual who thrives in ambiguity, embraces uncertainty and remains composed in unpredictable situations, viewing them as opportunities rather than obstacles

Visionary Mindset: An agent of change that possesses a forward-thinking perspective that challenges existing norms and inspires others to embrace new ideas

Who You Are

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in consulting, strategy, or e-commerce / retail analytics. Experience in digital merchandising, retails, product management, or marketing preferred.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel.
  • Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms.
  • Requires close vision.
  • Must be able to view complex data for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Who would be successful in this role?

  • Understands Macy's current Marketplace organization or a similar business model elsewhere
  • Has a clear understanding of what levers we can pull to influence different KPIs
  • Takes initiative and is proactive in their work, rather than reactive
  • Has worked cross-functionally before with Merchandising, Business Intelligence, Operations, etc.
  • Can interface and interact with 1P Merchant partners or even external vendors
  • SQL is a must
  • Experience in a scripting language, such as Python
