NanoCore Technologies is an early stage technology company developing a method of metal additive manufacturing an order of magnitude less complicated and less expensive than existing printers. Today, popular metal 3D printers cost half a million dollars or more and use complicated high-powered lasers and controlled atmospheres. NanoCore is taking an entirely different approach that utilizes proprietary materials science and machine design to make metal 3D printing easier, simpler and less expensive than previously imaginable. To put it simply, we believe our technology will fundamentally change how metal parts are made.
We are a dedicated team of engineers and scientists passionate about manufacturing innovation. We see technical challenges as opportunities, and through focus and teamwork we find creative solutions. Apply only if you are excited about getting your hands dirty. NanoCore is located in San Francisco, CA and is walking distance to BART& Caltrain and offers competitive salaries, benefits and stock options.
Job DescriptionYou will combine experience in machine design with a solid mechanical engineering and analysis background to help NanoCore bring its first metal 3D printer to market. Under the supervision of the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading major subsystems of a precision machine through the full design process--from definition to part design, planning and testing. You will produce electro-mechanical components within a high precision machine that must withstand the rigors of constant industrial usage. Tasks include:
Design and analysis of parts and electro-mechanical assemblies which will be integrated into motion controlled stages, including BOM, revision control, and sourcing.
Rapid prototyping to realize designs, plus experiment and fixture design to confirm part and subsystem operation using industry standard metrology tools.
Maintaining and advancing on-site machine tools and mechanical equipment, as applicable to NanoCore's metal printing process.
Presenting concepts, managing workflow, documenting progress, cooperating and contributing as part of the larger engineering team of mechanical, electrical, materials and software engineers.
Qualifications• Demonstrated expertise in design of precision industrial and/or scientific equipment, deploying sensors and actuators to support a multidisciplinary design process.
• Proven history for “getting things done” and track record for moving products from design into full scale manufacturing, with 4-6 years minimum work experience as an ME in machine design.
• Demonstrated ability to solve a wide range of technical problems with creativity, where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of a variety of factors. Matlab/Python or EE skills a plus.
• Experience setting up, operating, and/or maintaining mills, lathes, CNC tools, and motion control systems. History of working hands-on with electrical, thermal, and/or airflow systems a plus.
• Bachelors or Masters in mechanical engineering or related field. Strong verbal and written communication skills, as demonstrated through interactions with peers across their organization.
