Senior Media Relations Specialist5W is seeking a Senior Media Relations Specialist to join our
Travel & Entertainment practice with a background in
Travel, Entertainment and Hospitality media relations. The ideal individual will have worked within an agency setting, is an expert at pitching, and possesses superior account and time management skills.Media and Client Responsibilities:
- A tenacious, bulldog approach to generating press, pitching media day-in-day-out.
- Take ownership of media relations while driving consistent media results; report status of accounts to Account Director/VPs.
- Part account agnostic, manage the ability to drop in and out of specific accounts on top of core accounts.
- Maintain a fluent conversational dialogue with media daily to update report on and discuss media relations.
- Ability to seek out relevant and timely news topics that can be leveraged for thought leadership opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with influential members of the media in order to ensure top-tier placements.
- Support team on media plans, providing insight into outlets, angles, etc.
- Create and develop pro-active pitch ideas for clients based on their industry, current trends and various announcements.
- High-level media pitcher, securing big-picture, priority placements for clients.
Team Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior-level staff regarding media relations.
- Anticipate and proactively offer solutions to senior team members, when it comes to media campaigns and overall results.
- Draft review and approve pitches, media lists.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop strategic/creative thinking for clients.
- Lead by example; demonstrate proven strong work ethic.
What you have:
- B.S/B.A in Public Relations or related field
- 4-7 years of PR experience
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong leadership and motivation skills
- Creative and energetic personality
