N Position Type Management JOB SUMMARY The Senior Network Engineer, Global Wide Area Network (GWAN) Team is responsible for creating and improving secure network services and solutions that ensure the best experience possible for Marriott Associates, contractors, and customers. The Senior Engineer will be working with leading edge technologies, such as SDWAN, Cloud Networking, AI/ML enablement, while delivering against a SASE based framework. We are looking for a critical thinker who embraces the goal of a fully automated network to help us deliver on our major initiative to transform our global wide area network which is a foundational effort to support Marriott's cloud first strategy. CANDIDATE PROFILE Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field experience/certification 7+ years' experience as a Network Engineer with 7 or more years in a hands-on role implementing engineering standards, documenting engineering designs, and participating in project cutovers including the following: Implementation of WAN, LAN, and datacenter networks with a focus on mission-critical, customer-facing applications and services Technical Knowledge in networking (Cisco and non-Cisco) with an emphasis on software defined networking (SDN), firewalls, DNS, NTP, Network Tools and Management as well as common routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc) deployed across large global networks Experience designing and delivering networking service in public clouds such as AWS, Azure, AliCloud, GCP, OCI, etc. Experience designing and delivering WAN connectivity to public clouds utilizing CSP native connect solutions as well as other service offerings to create the underlay WAN fabric for the network Experience with writing Infrastructure as a Code for Cloud network components (VPC, RT, TGW, WAN, Shared Services) as well as Firewalls as a Service, SDWAN, SSE/SASE. Ability to work non-standard hours during change implementations and service restoration efforts Other Skills and Attributes Experience leveraging automation, AI and machine learning to deploy and manage networks Development and deployment of virtualized network services Vendor experience: Cisco; Juniper/Mist; Palo Alto Networks FW, Prisma Access and SDWAN; ServiceNow; Netskope; Equinix Fabric; traditional and next-gen underlay providers Cloud Networking Certifications Strong inter-personal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with other non-Network technical teams and non-technical customers Core Work Activities Network design, engineering, implementation, and operational optimization for the Corporate Network GWAN product, adhering to all applicable standards including architecture, security, privacy, compliance, etc. Network service and circuit capacity management Project planning and delivery including hardware and software specification, vendor coordination, and full operational turnover Change planning and run book review Governance of third-party service providers L3 escalation support for operational issues and/or outages Collaborate with other key teams including Network Architects, Test and Certification, Information Security, Finance, Procurement, etc. Participate in product strategy and planning Develop and execute new initiatives to simplify, standardize, optimize, and automate the network designs, tooling, and operations, reducing implementation cycle times, minimizing/eliminating service downtime, and optimizing performance The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $179,270 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.
