Senior Network Software EngineerPortland, Oregon, USAFull-Time PositionAre you ready to make a significant impact on cutting-edge networking technologies?Our team is searching for a Senior Network Software Engineer with deep technical expertise and a passion for hands-on problem-solving. This role focuses on developing and maintaining Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), and advanced networking solutions, working with embedded systems, and contributing to high-performance, scalable systems.As part of our team, you will help design, architect, and implement scalable software systems with a strong focus on networking and cloud services. This is a hands-on role that requires working directly with hardware and solving complex networking challenges.Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the team to design, architect, and implement scalable software systems with a focus on networking and cloud services.
  • Develop and optimize networking and Network Security functions like NGFW, Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDPS), Geo-IP filtering, QoS, Application Control, and routing.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and implement VPN technologies such as IPSec, OpenVPN, and WireGuard.
  • Work with Intel and ARM SoCs to support next-generation hardware designs.
  • Contribute to debugging and performance tuning.
  • Ensure code quality and reliability through testing and continuous integration workflows.
  • Engage with hardware to configure, debug, and validate system functionality.
About You and What We Need
  • Excellent proficiency in C, Python, and shell scripting for systems-level programming and automation.
  • Deep understanding of the network subsystem on FreeBSD, Linux, or OpenWRT
  • Familiarity with Intel and ARM SoCs and the ability to optimize systems for these architectures.
  • Experience with firewall packages like PF, IPFW, IPFilter, Netfilter, iptables, and Traffic Control.
  • Familiarity with network security technologies, such as NGFW, Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), DNS filtering, and IDS/IPS systems.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting tunneling technologies, including IPSec, OpenVPN, and WireGuard.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware configuration, testing, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration workflows, testing tools, and source code management tools (e.g., Git).
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and passionate about technology.
Bonus Points
  • Experience developing on FreeBSD and OPNSense.
  • Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), and cybersecurity concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS), particularly for networking and security services.
