Wentzville is one of the fastest-growing communities in the state. Come grow with us!The Senior Parks Maintenance Technician is responsible for leading and overseeing park maintenance operations. This role involves performing, tracking, and training crew members while also handling more complex or specialized tasks. The incumbent will apply their expertise in maintenance and construction trades to ensure efficient and effective park upkeep.Essential Job Duties:
  • Lead and train crew members on various park maintenance tasks and techniques.
  • Perform complex or specialized maintenance duties, such as [list specific tasks, e.g., irrigation system repairs, tree pruning, facility maintenance].
  • Plan and deploy appropriate personnel and equipment to complete assignments and in-house construction projects.
  • Evaluate the work product and skills of individual crew members.
  • Coordinate different work tasks to ensure timely completion and efficiency.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in construction, maintenance or one of the building trades is required, and two years in a leadership role is preferred.
  • Job-relevant certification/license, completion of vocational/technical program, or completion of apprenticeship required. College-level coursework that includes business, construction management, or a related field from vocational/technical school is preferred.
    • Additional job-related advanced degrees or certifications may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Journey-level experience in construction, maintenance or related trade is required.
  • Experience in interpreting and working from construction blueprints and/or specifications is required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a First-Aid/CPR certification within one year of the hire date.
  • Class A CDL with airbrake endorsement preferred, or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification is desired.
  • Additional training or experience in electronic control systems, security systems, and/or welding and fabrication is desired.
  • Bucket Truck Operations certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.
  • General knowledge of commonly used software, equipment, tools, materials, processes and procedures used in performing construction-related work.
  • Advanced knowledge of operations, services, and activities taking place on a construction site.
  • Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, terminology, equipment, and tools used in the construction of outdoor projects, including those used in performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, electrical, concrete, and drainage work.
  • General knowledge of principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.
  • General knowledge of construction requirements related to ADA regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety management principles and practices, including construction site security.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.
  • Basic office procedures, methods, and equipment knowledge, including computers and applicable software applications such as project management and building automation system software, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to determine the sequence of work activities to be performed on a construction project(s) for smooth integration of all trade disciplines, such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians, masons, roofers, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to make accurate construction calculations.
  • Ability to organize, implement, and direct construction operations and activities.
  • Ability to develop and recommend systems and procedures related to assigned operations.
  • Ability to develop basic cost estimates for supplies, equipment, and construction projects.
  • Ability to perform complex construction duties and operate related equipment.
  • Ability to lead a team and to manage the day-to-day activities of a team.
  • Ability to make quality on-the-spot decisions based on prior guidance and experience that impact the team and the direction of project work.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance on assigned tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, subordinates, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in writing, and in person.
