Job Description: The Chicago White Sox organization is seeking a payroll professional to join our accounting team as Senior Payroll Coordinator.The ideal candidate should be resourceful, detail-oriented, adaptable, and a great team player. The candidate must have payroll processing and payroll tax filing experience and a willingness to apply their skills in a challenging professional sports environment. Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for administrative, hourly, and seasonal staff.
- Coordinate timekeeping for hourly employees.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Resolve payroll-related discrepancies and issues.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Perform all aspects of tax reporting for multi-state payroll including making tax deposits, filing tax returns, and responding to notices.
- Prepare payroll data for posting to general ledger.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
- Assist with GAAP audit requests for payroll related transactions.
- Prepare information for PPACA reporting utilizing data from Payroll/HR system.
- Assist with workers' compensation audit reporting.
- Other tasks related to payroll reporting, analytics, and data management.
Qualifications:
- A four-year undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 4+ years relevant work experience.
- Prior experience in the sports industry a plus, but not required.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting concepts.
- Good working knowledge of payroll practices and payroll tax compliance.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to work on site 5 days a week.
- Experience working with UKG a plus.
