Our client, a dynamic and historic organization located in the heart of New York City, is currently seeking an experienced Sr Payroll Specialist to join their dedicated team. - Manage the weekly payroll processes for two distinct component companies with about 1,000 employees combines
- Become intimately familiar with the respective union rules (CBA's) governing the 7-8 unions employed
- Review and process weekly UKG Pro onboarding of new hires.
- Review and process historical timekeeping adjustments, UKG Pro manual adjustments, and manual/void checks
- Verify and set up employee direct deposits for existing employees.
- Review and reconcile weekly employee levies and garnishments.
- Address payment discrepancy notices from unions and resolve associated issues.
- Research Union Dues and Vacation issues within the UKG payroll system and reporting.
- Assist in supplying employee information for unemployment claims
- Collaborate in Union Audits of respective Health and/or Pension contributions.
- Aid in preparing schedules for the annual Worker's Compensation Audit.
- Prepare Disability and Paid Family Leave reporting for quarterly premium payments.
- Assist with the issuance and distribution of W2's to employees.
- Issue Union Health and Pension payments, including ACH payments and checks on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Assist in supplying information for the monthly payroll bank reconciliations.
- Identify and troubleshoot UKG payroll system issues found post-implementation.
- Update weekly union rates for new CBA's when they come into effect.
- Assist in generating and customizing the UKG Payroll Reporting (BI Reporting) for internal and external use
- Ensure all payroll adjustments and taxes withheld are recorded in a timely manner to facilitate the completion of quarterly payroll returns.
- Collaborate on cross-training initiatives to ensure certain critical payroll responsibilities are carried out on a weekly basis.
Working Conditions:
- The main office is centrally located in New York City.
- This position is full-time, exempt, and typically follows a Monday through Thursday schedule, with part of Sunday (remote work) for 2 weeks out of the month, and a Monday through Friday schedule for the other weeks.
- This position is in a professional and fast-paced office environment.
