Department: Mayor's Office Of Operations

Location: Manhattan, NY

Salary Range: $60,889.00 – $88,732.00

Job Description:

The New York City Mayor's Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The Mayor's Office of Operations works to make New York City government more effective and efficient. The Performance Management and Reporting Team (PMRT) within Operations monitors, reports, and analyzes the performance of City agencies. The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for working with a team to articulate meaningful performance indicators and will contribute to the twice-yearly Mayor's Management Report (MMR). Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performance Reporting:
    • Help support the City's existing systems for data collection and public reporting of information on the performance of City agencies.
    • Conduct research on performance indicators.
    • Examine and share best practices in agency-specific performance management systems.
  • Performance Management:
    • Act as a liaison to agencies to track and monitor performance indicators.
    • Coordinate with team members and agency partners to assist with the development of performance indicators.
  • Interagency Coordination:
    • Lead data collection and reporting for Operations' local law reporting.
    • Act as performance measure lead on single-agency projects.
  • Analytical Support and Data Visualization:
    • Assess performance of City agency operations and initiatives.
    • Identify data trends and develop research and analysis questions.
    • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of critical information to senior staff.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities related to the duties described above; or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Preferred Skills:

    • A Bachelor's Degree and four years of professional experience, or a Master's Degree and two years of experience.
    • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, transparency, and accountability in all work products.
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
    • Strong knowledge of MS Office products, particularly Excel.
    • An understanding of urban issues, especially New York City government.

    Residency Requirement: New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
