You will be a Senior Technical Leader responsible for shaping the technology landscape in the broadcast environment. This role focuses on designing and architecting cutting-edge broadcast systems, providing technical leadership, and driving innovation to meet the unique challenges of broadcasting. The ideal candidate will have experience in taking requirements from Product and Solutions Architecture Teams and advise the Broadcast Engineering Team on high level architectural and detailed design decisions. This position will work with Network Engineering, Applications and Infrastructure teams to design projects that will advance Sirius XM into the next generation of IT centric broadcast systems, implementing key modernized technology architectures and concepts that will supply the highest level of quality and reliability to our subscribers. TheSenior Principal Engineer of Broadcast Engineering is responsible for helping to manage the team in implementing changes to meet the requirements of assigned projects that support operational excellence as well as contribute to short and long-term strategic planning of broadcast technology.What you'll do:Work with cross functional teams, understand requirements and develop solutions via third party vendors or in houseDesign and implement complex broadcast systems and applications, including audio, video and metadata multicast routing, signal processing, and control systems within deadlinesInterface with Vendors and System Integrators – Communicating project expectations clearly and concisely to allow outside entities to deliver their results in a timely fashionInterface with IT and Broadcast IT teams to design and implement: Audio over IP (AoIP) workflows, Software Defined Network (SDN) and Virtualized environmentsCollaborate with Infrastructure teams for Compute and Storage capacity planning, environmental stability (OS and Virtual Layer) for the ApplicationsUnderstand Application systems and workflows and develop and implement APIs to integrate to support existing and new requirementsCreate technical documentation for existing and new application systems which help transition to other stakeholdersCollaborate with other broadcast team members, including audio and video engineers, to ensure seamless integration of systems and applicationsCoordinate with vendors and support the team on problem resolution, design issues, Installs and upgradesProvide technical support to internal and external users, including troubleshooting, trainingHave a broad understanding of how to architect Disaster Recovery and High Availability systemsCollaborate with other broadcast team members, including audio and video engineers, to ensure seamless integration of systems and applicationsCoordinate with vendors and support the team on problem resolution, design issues, Installs and upgradesProvide technical support to internal and external users, including troubleshooting, trainingExcellent Operational Mode: Assist with Transition to Operations after deployment,Review industry trends and new product lines to determine validity to current and future system designWhat you'll need:Twelve years (12) of experience as a Design Engineer, bringing projects from design to production, ideally in a broadcast field or similar 24/7 customer facing enterpriseTen (10) years of experience in broadcast and Media engineering or a related fieldBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT systems or equivalent, relevant experienceWorking experience or knowledge of Broadcast Media systems such as:System IntegrationScheduling SoftwareAutomation SystemsPlayout SystemsRecord SystemsAudio Routing, Control and Content OriginationVideo RoutingSignal ProcessingMedia Asset ManagementFamiliarity with broadcast standards, such as SMPTE, AES, and MADIWorking experience or knowledge of Network, Compute, Storage, VMWare, Operation Systems (Linux), Cloud Based Workflows, API's, Security ProtocolsCertification, or formal training in Project Management processes such as Six Sigma, CAPM, PMP or AgileProject Management Skills including vendor interaction, preparation of documents for stakeholder acceptance and trainingMotivated to keep pace with rapidly evolving broadcast and IT technologiesSystems documentation and operational proceduresAbility to multitask, shift priorities, and be willing to adapt or improveGeneral proficiency and working knowledge in all areas of media engineeringExcellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issuesMust have legal right to work in the U.SAt SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $161,400 to $190,975 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives.
