Job Responsibility
The “Biolife Senior Procurement Business Partner” is a member of the Plasma Operating Unit Procurement Team included in the Direct Procurement. The “Biolife Senior Procurement Business Partner” will work in a close collaboration with the relevant team members of the Biolife Organization.
The “Senior Procurement Business Partner, BIolife” holds responsibilities and accountability in the following key areas:
- CAPEX (Services and Equipment), Operational Services and IFM related sourcing activities of the Biolife US organization in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders
- Stakeholder Management (Biolife Organization – Engineering and IFM, Business Development, EHS, etc.)
- Collaboration with the relevant procurement functions and Biolife stakeholders in compliance with the “Biolife Procurement Governance Model”
- Collaboration with the Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE), Takeda Business Solutions (TBS) Teams, as well as the Finance teams (GREFP, PDT)
- Ensure ethical and compliant leadership and behavior in procurement, contracting and supplier management activities in the Biolife US organization
- The below description provides further insight into the above listed key responsibilities:
CAPEX (Services and Equipment), Operational Services and IFM related sourcing activities of the Biolife US organization in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders
- Ensure supply security in the CAPEX (Services and Equipment), Operational Services and IFM activities of the Biolife US organization.
- In collaboration with the relevant Biolife stakeholders, develop a comprehensive view on business priorities, goals, “Must Win” projects, expansion plans of the Biolife organization with special focus on “Value Capture” (cost optimization), Supplier Base rationalization, Sustainability, Innovation projects (e.g. Factory of the Future, Lab of the Future, “Freezer of the Future”) etc.
- In compliance with the defined priorities, develop and execute sourcing strategies and tactical implementation plans as well as projects. Where applicable, collaborate with and request guidance from the responsible Global Category Managers in the CAPEX, IFM, Utilities, Operational Services categories.
- With consideration of the defined strategies and plans, design and execute Request for Information, Request for Proposal, Request for Quotation activities in the CAPEX, Operational Services and IFM categories.
- Develop, negotiate, execute and if required amend and extend MSAs in the CAPEX, Operational Services and IFM categories. Closely monitor the validity and extension needs of MSA, provide on-time information to stakeholders about extension and re-negotiation requirements.
- Ensure cost and spend control as well as payment accuracy on the relevant MSAs, POs and the related invoices.
- Maintain regular (monthly) savings and cost avoidance reporting in Wave for the Biolife US organization in the Wave system of Takeda in the CAPEX, Operational Services and IFM categories.
- Perform pro-active risk identification, analysis, management and mitigation activities in the CAPEX, Operational Services and IFM categories. Initiate and support risk mitigation projects with the relevant stakeholders of Biolife.
- Work in close collaboration with other relevant functions (Biolife Engineering, IFM, EHS, etc) on issue resolution actions and initiatives in the managed procurement categories.
- Develop a dashboard (expiry of MSAs, Preferred Supplier and related requirements, Savings, Spend, etc.) and KPIs providing regular updates on key metrics aligned btw Biolife and Procurement.
Collaboration with the relevant procurement functions and Biolife stakeholders in compliance with the Biolife Procurement Governance Model
- Develop awareness of the “Biolife Procurement Governance Model” providing guidance on the collaboration, communication and escalation between the Biolife organization and the different Procurement functions providing support to Biolife.
- In compliance with the “Biolife Procurement Governance Model” work in close collaboration with the Plasma Operating Unit Procurement Lead, the Biolife Global Category Lead as well as the relevant Biolife stakeholders on functional strategic and operational topics, projects and other initiatives
- Apply the “Continuous Improvement” mindset and approach when amendment needs are identified concerning the “Biolife Procurement Governance Model”.
Collaboration with the Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE), Takeda Business Solutions (TBS) Teams, as well as the Finance teams (GREFP, PDT)
- Contribute to the successful implementation of GREFP, Direct Procurement, CoE, TBS projects and initiatives as a lead or key team member in the Biolife US organization.
- Develop and maintain Preferred Supplier base for Biolife US in the in the CAPEX, Operational Services and IFM categories in alignment with the relevant stakeholders.
- Support delivery of annual objectives for strategic projects such as Scope 3 (reducing CO2 emissions at the relevant suppliers), maintenance of Preferred Suppliers
- Report on achievements, gaps, improvement areas.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required:
- Degree level educated with business related degree (MBA) preferable,
- Business level English
- 10+ years of relevant Sourcing & Procurement experience with experience in senior stakeholder management, supporting cost reduction projects, value creation programs, basic contracting, eSourcing and spot buying, preferably in a biotech/pharmaceutical industry required,
- Demonstrated understanding of some or the entire major spend categories and potential cost levers or market fundamentals,
- Experience or demonstrated understanding in Category Management principles and frameworks and the development of sourcing strategies,
- Demonstrated experience in services and equipment related supply issue resolution and risk mitigation / management,
- Demonstrated experience in supporting construction and facility management projects from procurement aspects,
- Willingness to understand business and operating models, strategic priorities, expansion plans of Biolife.
Preferred:
- Post graduate business-related qualification
- Demonstrated ability in collating, organizing, analyzing and reporting complex financial data with solid grounding in basic procurement and financial processes and systems
- Documented international strategic sourcing, category management and / or cost reduction experience
- Pharmaceutical Industry or Management Consulting experience
- Experience with enterprise systems (SAP, Oracle) and Procurement / procure-to-pay tools such as (e.g. Ariba, Emptoris, SAP, SMR) is preferred
- Any Professional Purchasing (e.g. CIPS) or Finance related licenses or certifications would be considered advantageous
Other Job Requirements
This role requires occasional travel to the plasma collection centers of the Biolife US.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
149,100.00 - 234,300.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
