Job Description:

Position Summary

The Senior Procurement Specialist/Buyer will play a pivotal role in sourcing and acquiring capital equipment and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) items for the Company. This position will require strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of procurement processes, and a keen eye for value, especially through the startup phase of the operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing:
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for capital equipment and MRO items.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and quality of goods.
  • Resolve supplier disputes and performance issues efficiently.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Contract Management:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for capital equipment and MRO purchases.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Manage contract renewals and amendments.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock levels to minimize costs and avoid stockouts.
  • Implement inventory management systems and procedures.
  • Cost Reduction:
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as price negotiations, value engineering, and supplier consolidation.
  • Track and analyze purchasing data to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify and address compliance issues.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on capital equipment and MRO items.
  • Demonstration of strong organizational skills within an MRO storage facility and the ability to identify and prioritize critical needs for the operation.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and tools. Preference to relevant SAP experience and management of approved supplier lists.
  • Knowledge of contract law and procurement best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in procurement (e.g., CPM, CPIM).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of specific industry standards and regulations.
