Position Summary
The Senior Procurement Specialist/Buyer will play a pivotal role in sourcing and acquiring capital equipment and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) items for the Company. This position will require strong negotiation skills, a deep understanding of procurement processes, and a keen eye for value, especially through the startup phase of the operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing:
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for capital equipment and MRO items.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and quality of goods.
- Resolve supplier disputes and performance issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for capital equipment and MRO purchases.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.
- Manage contract renewals and amendments.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock levels to minimize costs and avoid stockouts.
- Implement inventory management systems and procedures.
- Cost Reduction:
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as price negotiations, value engineering, and supplier consolidation.
- Track and analyze purchasing data to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify and address compliance issues.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on capital equipment and MRO items.
- Demonstration of strong organizational skills within an MRO storage facility and the ability to identify and prioritize critical needs for the operation.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and tools. Preference to relevant SAP experience and management of approved supplier lists.
- Knowledge of contract law and procurement best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in procurement (e.g., CPM, CPIM).
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of specific industry standards and regulations.
