Senior Production Manager

Mapleton, IL

The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world.

With over 1000 employees at the foundry, we are looking for someone who will manage the day-to-day operations of all shifts, including front line leaders, plan and develop continuous improvement initiatives, and deliberately develop team members and influence facility wide initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Manage staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; manage, motivate, and develop management team.
  • Oversee operations activities, ensuring that safety, schedules and performance requirements are met and system resources are used effectively.
  • Drive improvements for overall operations performance and implement production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms.
  • Ensure the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and forge a safe and sound manufacturing environment.

Top Candidates May Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Metallurgical or foundry experience

Skill Descriptors

  • Quality Management: Extensive knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • Analytical Thinking: Working knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Planning and Organizing: Extensive knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
  • Performance Management: Working knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Manufacturing Operations: Extensive knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
  • Manufacturing Safety: Extensive knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
  • Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Working knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
  • Production Scheduling and Control: Working knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables.
