Senior Project CoordinatorThe Senior Project Coordinator (or Engineer) is responsible for capital project planning and safe and efficient execution to meet the site and company strategic objectives. This mine-site based position will play a significant role in the company's project commissioning and ramp up, as well as many other sustaining projects critical to the ongoing operation of the mine. This position reports to the Projects Superintendent.Responsibilities
- Dispatch job responsibilities with strong leadership in the areas of health, safety and environmental stewardship.
- Develop and manage tasks related to engineering, construction and completion of capital projects associated with mine equipment and infrastructure.
- Capital project planning, preparing AFE submittals, scheduling, cost estimation, interpreting drawings and specifications.
- Planning, supporting, managing, and tracking engineering and construction activities.
- Ensure projects align with company goals.
- Working with various departments to solve problems and maintain project budgets and schedules.
- Develop projects by conferring with management, soliciting bids, acquiring proposals, and monitoring contractor activities on site.
- Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements.
- Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
- Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
- Maintain project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities and resolving problems.
- Control project plans by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes and recommending actions.
- Control project costs by monitoring and approving expenditures; administering supplier contracts.
- Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by modeling and ensuring procedures, policies, and regulations are followed.
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (engineering, geology, metallurgy...). Applicable experience may be considered as a substitute for formal education.
- PMP certification is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience, of which 2 years are in construction/project management roles. Mining experience and/or large construction project experience is a plus.
- Be able to demonstrate strong HSE values and leadership experience.
- Knowledge of design and visualization software such as AutoCAD.
- Advanced MS Office skills.
- Familiarity with MSHA rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary projects.
- Project management and supervision skills.
- Ability to mentor other project staff.
- Decision-making ability and leadership skills.
