We are actively seeking a Transportation Project Manager to lead and mentor a growing team of engineers and designers on high-impact transportation projects throughout New Jersey. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in the delivery of roadway, highway, and freeway projects for NJDOT, NJTA, Municipal, County, Toll, and Transit agencies.

As a Transportation Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project design and plan preparation. You'll lead a team of skilled professionals, ensuring quality, timeliness, and efficiency in delivering transportation infrastructure projects. This role offers a pathway to Assistant Department Manager for candidates with strong leadership aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design, plan production, and oversight of conventional design-bid-build transportation projects.
  • Provide QA/QC reviews, mentorship, and technical guidance to project teams.
  • Oversee project tasks for NJDOT and NJTA multidisciplinary projects, ensuring compliance with agency protocols and standards.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on staffing assignments and forecasting project needs.
  • Serve as a client-facing project leader while contributing to business development efforts.
  • Prepare contract documents (plans, specifications, schedules, and estimates) for submission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • PE License in New Jersey (required).
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering with a focus on roadway, highway, and freeway design.
  • Experience working on NJDOT and NJTA projects with a strong understanding of their standards, processes, and delivery protocols.
  • Strong technical skills in transportation planning, preliminary design, final design, and PS&E.
  • Proven ability to lead project teams, manage project schedules, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Proficiency in the development of contract documents, including plans, specifications, estimates, and schedules.
  • Experience contributing to proposal development and business development activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with clients.
