We are looking for an experienced and degreed Senior Project Engineering Manager (HVAC) to work with a reputable MEP Engineering firm in New York City. This person will report into either the Philadelphia, Boston or NYC offices. The ideal candidate will manage a range of smaller multi-floor fit out projects to $100MM ground-up buildouts. This person will work autonomously as a project leader and is expected to coordinate, communicate, and problem-solve across disciplines and exhibit the ability to balance the Client relationship with the project's financial goals. This is an onsite role with a hybrid schedule. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with full benefits and 25% domestic travel to the Northeast.
Responsibilities of the Senior Project Engineering Manager (HVAC)
- Collaborate with Department Leaders (Associate Directors, Directors, etc.) to develop and implement conceptual project designs.
- Serve as the key client interface, managing expectations and ensuring satisfaction on a day-to-day basis.
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of project deliverables.
- Lead multiple projects, including fit-out and renovation work through complex/large projects, from concept through completion.
- Facilitate design changes and obtain necessary approvals to meet evolving project needs.
- Maintain comprehensive project schedules, optimizing team resources to meet deadlines.
- Conducts regular page-turn/reviews and ensures the completion of Internal design review process and procedures (DRPP)
- Conduct equipment performance reviews, applying lessons learned for future projects.
- Foster internal and external communication to mitigate project issues and deliver results.
- Understands the scope of services for each project and identifies additional services, new work proposals, and prepares appropriate documentation for review with their Department Leader
- Collaborates with Project Accountants for timely and accurate project invoicing
- Provides continuous feedback through regular team and 1:1 meetings; and conducts performance evaluations for a direct report group of 3 – 6 engineers.
Qualifications of the Senior Project Engineering Manager (HVAC)
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- 8+ years of experience in mission-critical facility design and construction environments.
- Proficient in all design calculations and software tools (e.g., Revit and AutoCAD) applicable to their discipline.
- Experience working on Healthcare Facilities, Commercial, data centers and trade centers
- Strong understanding of trade-specific scope of project (i.e., proposal/add-service), trade-related codes (including energy, building, etc.) and the required coordination with other trades.
- Strong understanding of documentation requirements and content for each deliverable phase (e.g., SD, DD, CD and specifications).
- Understands and implements office procedures related to both design (i.e., archiving drawings, filing drawings and forms, etc.) and construction administration (i.e., updating shop drawing log, updating RFI log, etc.)
