We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join a team and lead the way in delivering cutting-edge power solutions for our clients. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from initial site surveys and specification development to the successful installation and commissioning of DC power equipment in Central Offices. Your expertise in DC power plant engineering, coupled with your ability to manage projects efficiently, will be instrumental in ensuring that our clients receive the highest quality service. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Interfacing with Customer Representatives: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and their expectations are exceeded.
- Performing Site Surveys: Conduct thorough assessments of Central Offices to determine the best approach for DC power plant installations.
- Creating Price Quotes: Develop detailed and competitive quotes that accurately reflect the scope of work and material requirements.
- Writing Installation Specifications: Draft comprehensive specifications that guide the installation and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Detailing Material Requirements: Identify and specify the necessary equipment and materials for each project, ensuring availability and compatibility.
- Performing Material and Labor Cost Analysis: Analyze costs to ensure projects are completed within budget and to the highest quality standards.
- Providing Engineering Field Support: Offer technical expertise and support to project teams, ensuring that installations are carried out smoothly and efficiently.
- Managing Project Engineers: Oversee a team of 2-3 DC Power Project Engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure project success.
- Travel Requirements: Be prepared to travel regionally up to 30-50% of the time within the New England and Mid-Atlantic area to perform site surveys, manage projects, and provide support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of relevant DC power plant engineering experience in a Central Office environment.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Central Office DC Power Plant Engineering Experience:
- Proficient with various original equipment manufacturers (GE, Eltek, etc.).
- Proficient with various battery types (flooded, VRLA, etc.).
- Proficient with customer standards particularly AT&T and Verizon.
- Proficient with customer databases (PowerPro, AMPEERS, GeoLink, etc.).
- Excellent Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with clients and team members at all levels.
- Excellent Organizational Skills: Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong PC Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Work Authorization: Must have a Green Card or be a US Citizen.
Required Skills:
- Central Office Experience: Demonstrated experience in DC power plant engineering within Central Offices.
- DC Power Plant Engineering Experience: Thorough understanding of rectifiers, controllers, inverters, converters, batteries, and secondary distribution to BDFB/BDCBB.
- Telecom: Knowledge of telecom industry standards and practices.
