Senior Project Manager - Commercial Construction

Seeking a Senior Project Manager with extensive experience in commercial construction to join a respected and established Chicago area general contractor.

The Senior Project Manager will play a critical role in ensuring project success by delivering exceptional service to clients and overseeing the management of commercial construction projects. Responsibilities include leading all phases of project execution, with a focus on safety, scheduling, profitability, quality, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and understand owner contract terms, identify risk areas, and manage accordingly.
  • Establish project budgets and profit goals, presenting them for management approval.
  • Oversee the selection process for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Lead team meetings throughout preconstruction and construction phases to track progress.
  • Develop and manage the project's master schedule, identifying and addressing deviations or risks.
  • Supervise the submittal and shop drawing approval process.
  • Collaborate with the superintendent on site logistics, equipment planning, and safety measures.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring adherence to processes and procedures.
  • Maintain clear communication and reporting with clients and stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage risks, such as subcontractor issues, cash flow concerns, or missed milestones.
  • Foster team development by mentoring, motivating, and supervising project members.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including erosion control, dust control, and noise ordinances.
  • Manage change orders, ensuring an organized and timely process for tracking scope changes.
  • Coordinate phases of work to meet interim completion deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including correspondence, drawings, and change records.
  • Create and update revenue forecasts monthly for reporting purposes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience and certifications will also be considered.
  • 7 years of experience managing commercial or light industrial construction projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems and construction methods.
