DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise and direct Project Managers that provides general oversight and coordination in reviewing contractors' compliance with construction and design plans and specifications. Contract management with essential duties of coordinating contract repairs and/or replacement of mechanical equipment. Reviews contractor submittals. Position supports efforts relating to preparation and technical personnel to develop and implement Work Management System Program for the Branch. Maintains a safe and healthy environment and tries to avoid any accidents or injuries that may occur within your area of responsibility. Reviews safety practices, implements improvements and monitors your area for compliance. Manages the Infor Work Management System Issues for their designated area of responsibility, while utilizing the Project Manager, their staff, and all resources. Participates in the WMS continued implementation, upgrade recommendations and system design for Wastewater Treatment Plants & Lift Stations. Reviews weekly time reports for accuracy. Ensures all time is entered, corrected and approved. Assures that work orders are filled out properly, including time, material used and location of work. Reviews log work order books for up-to-date statuses and neatness.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires stooping, bending and/ or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management Position at the Tier II Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Project Management or a closely related field based on the responsibilities of the position. Considerable knowledge of design or construction is required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six years of experience in construction, construction inspection, design, landscape design, geo-technical, environmental or a closely related field are required.
Directly related professional architectural, construction or landscape design experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
