A member of the OFS Carrollton, Executive Leadership Team reporting to the General Manager. Responsible for the OFS Carrollton Quality System and its compliance to ISO 9001. Is the Management Representative for Quality and has the authority to ensure that the quality management system is Established, Implemented and Maintained. Agent of change, responsible to drive Lean initiatives across the business unit supporting value stream mapping, waste elimination and improvement across all departments and all business processes. Participates on, and facilitates, key improvement teams utilizing Lean and 6 Sigma techniques and tools. Provides a liaison with functional primes on issues effecting product quality and the quality system. Ensures quality of raw materials, provides a liaison with customers and suppliers on quality issues, supervises assigned personnel, and performs other similar duties pertaining to Quality Assurance and Lean implementation.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
* Implement, control and maintain ISO 9001 (2008) and MIL-STD-790 compliant quality system.
* Management representative for OFS Carrollton's quality system responsible for:
* Improvement, maintenance and reporting on the effectiveness of this system.
* Control of quality system manuals, quality documents and data, and quality records.
* Implement and maintain audit program to assess functionality of the quality system and provide recommendations to management for continuous improvement of the system.
* Report to top management on the performance of the quality system and any need for improvement.
* Leads the management review.
* Provide system for product ID and traceability.
* Approve and assure implementation of quality plans for all manufacturing activities.
* Assure tracking, calibration and maintenance of test and measurement equipment.
* Responsible for control of non-conforming materials.
* Responsible to record, monitor and coordinate corrective/preventative actions.
* Coordinate the quality training, quality development, and quality activities of all personnel in alignment with the Quality Policy (salaried and hourly).
* Be involved in the new program launch process to ensure products and processes are developed in alignment with the quality system.
* Work with Suppliers to improve quality products and service.
* Supervise, build and develop a qualified QA staff, providing clear direction, motivation and specific performance objectives to all assigned personal.
* Champion Lean Techniques across the OFS Carrollton business to enable strategic goal.
* Evaluate needs and drive change, creating a Lean culture.
* Manage the improvement of processes and products meeting customer requirements in all manufacturing and business processes.
* Participate in and/or lead teams formed to effect significant change in OFS's quality, business or manufacturing processes.
* Develop standard work for quality teams such as Quality Circles and Kaizen Teams (process flow, best practices, and lesson learned).
* Facilitate continuous improvement through use of, and through training others to use, all tools available (SPC, FMEA, Poke-Yoke, Layered Audits, 5S, SMED, Standard work, TPM, etc.)
* Conduct relentless root cause analysis, establish visual controls, implement process layered audits, etc.
* Provide a liaison with functional primes on issues effecting product quality and quality systems.
* Investigate incidents of process non-compliance, quality defects, etc.
* Confer with appropriate personnel to analyze and determine root causes of non-compliant processes as well as causes of quality defects.
* Ensure corrective actions are implemented to eliminate problems or difficulties.
* Provide prime liaison for customers and vendors on quality issues.
* Ensure analysis to determine root cause(s) of quality problems.
* Ensure corrective actions are implemented to correct root causes of quality problems.
* Confer with vendors on matters pertaining to materials specifications and quality.
* Supervise, and provide guidance for, the quality engineer(s) assigned to the above activities.
Hire, train, assign and check work of subordinates as to company policy and procedures, methods and practices, standards of performance and other matters affecting their work. Detect substandard work and take corrective action within the limits of established policy. Evaluate performance and confer with General Manager on personnel or other matters effecting subordinates.
Perform other similar duties inherent to the position of Senior Manager, Quality Assurance & Lean, or as requested by the General Manager.
Job Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and at least 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
