Employment Type: Regular Full-TimeShift: 1st ShiftWork Status: On-sitePosition Summary: The Senior Quality Technician HF (Hydroflo) develops inspection methods, determines proper inspection levels, assures conformance of incoming materials and outgoing products to specifications, evaluates new vendors, and assists operations in the disposition of rejected material. They will develop testing procedures and schedules along with a quality manual, leading efforts to become certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The Sr Quality Technician works independently to coordinate quality assurance functions by formalizing quality processes that have a strong focus on the customer.Measures of success:
  • ISO certification readiness
  • Successful development and maintenance of quality manual
  • Effective maintenance of corrective action register
  • Implementation and maintenance of vendor scorecards
  • Develop and manage approved vendor list
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develops and maintains quality system, procedures and documentation, resulting in a quality manual that outlines acceptable quality levels.
  • Determines proper inspection levels and sample sizes to assure conformance of incoming materials and outgoing products to the specifications and established acceptable quality level.
  • Creates sampling plans with new and current vendors producing parts not previously made.
  • Performs daily activities of quality inspections on incoming materials and outgoing products. Resolves daily quality issues with Engineering and Operations.
  • Assists operations in the disposition of rejected material and determining the cause and action taken by vendor and/or Hydroflo to prevent future rejections.
  • Maintenance of corrective action register of addressing customer and field issues reviewed periodically to evaluate effectiveness and sustainability
  • Performs statistical studies when required.
  • Assists engineering with nondestructive testing as necessary.
  • Sets up gauging and instructs manufacturing personnel on inspection procedures as defined.
  • Interacts with suppliers regarding non-conformance of materials and collaboratively develops corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Trains Hydroflo employees in quality system and procedures.
  • Ensures Hydroflo quality procedures comply with ISO 9000 requirements in order for company to achieve certification.
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed.
QualificationsRequired:
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Systems, Engineering or related field; significant applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • 7+ years of quality assurance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems
  • Experience in training others in quality procedures
  • Experience using statistical process control (SPC) methods
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team
  • Minimal travel required to other company locations, etc.
Work EnvironmentThis position works primarily in office and lab environments using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent.
