Salary: $17.72 Hourly Location : Rochester, NY Job Type: Part-Time Job Number: 24DM821DRA30 Department: Department of Recreation & Human Services Bureau: Recreation & Youth Services Opening Date: 09/18/2024 Closing Date: 12/31/2024 11:59 PM Eastern General Description These are part-time and seasonal recreation positions involving responsibility for assisting with and leading a variety of recreation and youth development activities at playgrounds, recreation centers, neighborhood facilities or gymnasiums with a special focus on conducting programs related to education. The work is performed under the direct or indirect supervision of higher level recreation staff. Incumbents in this class may lead Recreation Assistants and Youth Workers in the performance of their duties. Employees in this class may be required to work a variety of hours and shifts as demanded by the recreation program. Related work is performed as required. CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION. Typical Work Activities
- Conducts education related programs and services;
- Assists and leads daily recreation programs, including athletics, group games and crafts;
- Assists in maintaining order and compliance with established recreation rules and regulations;
- Assists in stocking supplies and equipment;
- Leads Recreation Assistants and Youth Workers in the performance of their duties;
- Assists in the maintenance of supplies and equipment;
- May greet customers, answer phones and assist receptionist with other front desk duties.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or Equivalent; AND One (1) year of full time or part time experience working in recreation programs, camp, school or other youth (17 years and under) related work (or field). SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
New York State Class D Driver's License at time of appointment. This licensure must be maintained throughout employment in this job. Possession and maintenance of a Van Certification issued by the Department of Recreation & Human Services.
