Job Description:

STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our team. This position will focus on supporting our design-build industrial business based in Chicago, Illinois. The home office location for this position is flexible.

Collectively, the STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES group of companies is the largest concrete specialty concrete repair contractor in the United States. Our integrated investigate-design-build teams identify problems, create repair solutions and implement repair projects for owners in the industrial, nuclear power generation, and other key markets.

At STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES, we spend our time working with our fully integrated repair companies to perform field investigations and develop repair solutions for existing structures and buildings. This position will be a role that requires in-depth knowledge of how structures are designed and behave, including: industrial and power-generating buildings and structures; dynamic equipment foundations; and environmental (liquid-retaining) structures.

Position Requirements:

· Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE)

· 15+ years of applicable experience

· Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering

· Ability to travel for site visits

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

· Master's or PhD degree in civil or structural engineering

· Experience with structural design for reinforced concrete and structural steel

· Robust knowledge of concrete repair techniques

· Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

· Enthusiasm for solving problems and solid understanding of how structures behave

· Experience working with industrial and power generation facilities

· Active in professional organizations, such as ASCE, ACI, AMPP, SEI, ICRI

Responsibilities:

· Proposal development: preparation of engineering scope and budget; incorporation of subconsultant work scopes; review of construction design-build proposals.

· Technical Solution Development: Collaborate with operational branches to develop repair concepts and field execution strategies. Additionally, support branch business development with technical presentations and other materials for proposed solutions to clients and stakeholders.

· Preliminary Engineering and Design: Perform preliminary engineering to determine approximate quantities and sizes of materials and develop concept sketches for internal use and inclusion in client-facing proposals.

· Client Engagement: Participate in client-facing meetings such as pre-bid meetings, proposal presentations, and client debriefs, especially when a subsequent project phase is anticipated.

· Project Initiation: Play a key role in the project handoff process from precontract to project execution, sharing pertinent details to ensure seamless project continuation.

· Industry Knowledge and State of the Practice: Stay current on industry standards, repair techniques, and best practices to provide clients with the most effective solutions.
