Job Description
Primary responsibilities include: proposal and budget development; institution and sponsor policy and guideline interpretation for faculty members and their lab personnel; forecasting expenses and providing regular as well as ad hoc financial reports to Department and faculty; reconciling faculty and lab research needs with overall financial picture and making recommendations regarding spending rates; monitoring accounts to ensure compliance with federal, institution and/or sponsor regulations. Other duties include, but are not limited to: acting as effort report coordinator; approving payments over certain dollar thresholds; training lab managers and other lab personnel on sponsored research policies and procedures; assist in implementing policies at the department level and recommend process improvements; help to resolve issues related to research funding and related to migrating and/or transferring labs.
Hard Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ 1-3 years directly related work experience in an academic environment
+ Knowledge of NIH/NSF grant policies
+ Understanding of Uniform Guidance
+ Experience with federal and non-federal sponsors
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Soft Skills
+ Ability to prioritize multiple assignments
+ High degree of judgment for sound decision-making
+ Handling sensitive information
+ Effective communication with faculty
+ Commitment to customer service
+ Willingness to take on additional tasks

This is a permanent position.
Work Site
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Cambridge, Massachusetts and some days remote. (First 90 days are fully onsite)
