This position is hybrid and based out of our New York City office reporting to the office on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze and report on regional and national economy with respect to employment statistics, retail sales, industry trends, and demographic shifts that affect retail real estate.
  • Analyze market data to identify trends and understand economic and real estate market drivers and proactively position the information for use by the organization and members.
  • Proactively recommend new data sets that could be used to create a narrative around current issues/trends within the industry.
  • Collaborate across the organization to provide research and analytical insight into major industry projects, events and content platforms. Answer research-related questions and requests from association colleagues and members.
  • Create compelling visualizations and provide meaningful insights on market data, trends and drivers.
  • Follow established processes to ensure data excellence within our database, and regularly audit and refine datasets.
  • Assist in production of all research reports and contributions to thought leadership pieces.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree. Masters degree a plus.
  • 5 – 7 years in retail real estate research a necessity.
  • Ability to calculate and analyze key industry metrics and indicators (to include vacancy, absorption, inventory, cap rates, etc.)
  • Strong quantitative skillset with ability to identify new insights and trends through data analytics
  • Ability to distill data into meaningful bullet points and a narrative for general audience consumption
  • Strong data collection, validation, auditing and analytical skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Proactive thinking to contribute to research initiatives, align research with the organization goals, and innovate research output
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time and workload
  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team
  • Proficiency in MS Office products as well as Python
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
