To learn more, visit We WantTAMIDS is seeking a Senior Research Development Officer who will support teams to develop research proposals in Data Science and AI. They will Identify funding sources and solicitations, and build and organize research teams to target such funding. They will develop knowledge of and relationships with the research community, departments and research centers to help synthesize research concepts. They will represent TAMIDS capabilities with peers across Texas A&M and in outreach organizations in order to develop collaborative opportunities. Experience in developing and coordinating large proposals, writing on topics related to Data Science, working with Sponsored Research Services for proposal development and submission is preferred, along with experience in working in post-award management including business and account management.What You Need To KnowSpecial Note: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended, and contact information for three professional references. You may upload them on the application under the CV/Resume section.Salary: Commensurate with ExperienceRequired Education and Experience:* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience, four years of experience developing or writing proposals to or for federal, state or private agencies.Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:* Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.* Oral and written communication skills.* Organizational skills.* Ability to independently make decisions.Preferred Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree and Three years of related experience in securing federal funding through proposal development.* Experience in developing and coordinating large proposals; experience writing on topics related to Data Science; experience in or working with Sponsored Research Services for proposal development and submission; and experience in working in post-award management including business and account management.* Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and FAMIS/Canopy and MAESTRO.ResponsibilitiesResearch Opportunity Development- Works with departments, institutes, centers, and researchers to develop a comprehensive understanding of the TAMU research capabilities in Data Science and related disciplines. Facilitates research team interactions and progress for large, center-level proposal efforts. Obtains announcements from government and private agencies regarding Data Science research and funding opportunities. Analyses announcements to determine relevance for TAMIDS and Texas A&M, including type of research, required expertise, and potential participants and partners. Compiles reports on opportunities and next steps for TAMIDS leadership and for distribution to appropriate faculty and administrators. Researches, locates, and reports on Data Science initiatives. Liaises with peers in Texas A&M University, System, and Agencies to identify funding opportunities in the federal, states, industry and non-profit sections. Develops strategy for develop collaborative approaches and to represent TAMIDS capabilities.Research Proposal Development- Coordinates development of research proposals for TAMIDS, its collaborators, and supported faculty. Supports strategic planning efforts of proposal teams, including logistics, alignment to solicitation and agency guidelines, and coordination of internal and external review teams that may include contracted specialists and experts. Coordinates participation of Texas A&M outreach, training, professional, and support programs in research proposals. Develops guidance documents related to proposal development and checklists for solicitation components. Provides advice on writing grant applications responsive to funding opportunity announcements, with attention to the review criteria and the application guide. Provides support in proposal narrative development, review, consolidation, and editing. Assists with budgeting questions, expenditure projections and other budgetary needs and concerns. Coordinates proposal assembly and submission with Sponsored Research Services. Supports planning and coordination of agency on-site and reverse-site visits.Post-Award Management- Assist with award setup and review process. Monitors project status including deliverables and expenditures, Coordinates with Business Offices and Sponsored Research Services concerning account management and costing allocations. Maintains contact with sponsor project manager. Oversees organization of project review meetings with external partners and project sponsors.
