Seeking a Senior Scientist for an Oncology R&D Drug Discovery group is building its Cell Therapy team in Gaithersburg, MD.
The skills to design and conduct in vivo experiments and develop methods, generate, interpret, and report on scientific data.
Strong scientific expertise in T cell biology, cellular therapy, and extensive knowledge of the mechanisms that regulate CAR-T cell functions.
A PhD in Immunology or a related field with relevant experience in industry or academia, along with a significant publication record.
Accountabilities:
Contributes primarily to running in vivo experiments and their designs, performs independent data analysis, and provide interpretations.
Proficient in mice handling and procedures like iv infusion, tumor implantation and tissue processing
Supports a team and works collaboratively to ensure efficient relay of information and forward translation of data.
Maintains a well-developed understanding of drug discovery approaches and applies broader functional knowledge to support diverse project groups within the department.
Assesses and reports data with minimal guidance, ensuring clarity and understanding of its implications within the overall context of drug discovery.
Provides technical instruction to the team and allocates administrative tasks where possible.
Shares relevant external published papers with peers.
Communicates and shares information across distinct projects within the bioscience function and other departments.
Ensures compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) standards, and all other relevant internal Company standards and external regulations.
Qualifications:
PhD in Immunology or an equivalent field and/or professional certifications, with 1 to 3 years of post-doctoral training in immunology, T cell biology and in vivo procedures.
MS degree with 3-5 years of experience will also be considered.
Proficiency in cell culture of established cell lines and primary human immune cells.
Hands-on expertise in T-cell functional characterization assays, such as in vitro cytotoxicity, proliferation, and cytokine measurement.
Well-developed understanding and expertise in molecular and cellular biology of immune cells, including the design and performance of functional assays, and cell transfection/transduction.
Familiarity with multi-parameter flow cytometry, including immunostaining, acquisition, and analysis.
