What You'll Do

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented and certified Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Soils Laboratory Technician to join our Austin team. We offer opportunities for growth in this role with additional incentives as you advance your skills and gain experience. In this role, you'll continue to collaborate and develop with experienced professionals to safely perform a variety of tasks in our concrete and soils laboratories.

Responsibilities

* Laboratory Activities: Perform specific tasks of increased complexity associated with conducting laboratory testing on construction materials for various projects under the supervision of lab leadership; Assist in preparation for and demonstrations of testing procedures as requested; Train and mentor other lab technicians.

* Laboratory Safety and Compliance: Conduct routine laboratory tests using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance; Assist with tasks to maintain laboratory organization and cleanliness in compliance with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) initiatives to maintain accreditation compliance with various organizations, including DOT, AMRL, CCRL, and AASHTO; Tasks may include calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment following the manufacturer's schedule and records; Notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.

* Soils Testing: Conduct routine laboratory tests for soils including Atterberg limits, gradation analyses, swell testing, moisture content testing, unconfined compressive strength testing, standard and modified proctor testing, and begin learning how to visually classify soils.

* Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on interpretations of test results; Demonstrate competency of testing methods by documenting results accurately using laboratory software; Prepare reports and summaries, as well as additional administrative tasks as requested.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

* High school diploma or GED.

* 2 years of experience.

* Must have and be willing to maintain laboratory certifications for concrete, soils, or both depending on where work is performed.

* Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.

* Willing to continue to enhance knowledge of CMT laboratory equipment, testing methods, and ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, or both with NICET, WACEL, or other organizations.

* Strong data interpretation and documentation skills.

* Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).

* Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.
