Job Description:
Seeking Mechanical Engineer to work with technical staff in developing antenna designs from concept through production, and to provide mechanical support for a diverse, relatively high volume production line.
Essential Functions:
- Performs mechanical engineering activities related to the design, analysis, documentation, processing, fabrication, assembly, and qualification of antenna product to specification requirements typically with stringent technical, schedule, and process requirements.
- Responsible for production support including MRB and ECN activity to support our product, and working with manufacturing for initial work instructions for new product.
- Design of detail parts and assemblies related to antennas and radomes and/or electronic packages.
- Communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy, and reliability of project data.
- Writes test procedures and reports and prepares documentation for and presentations.
Qualifications:
- Requires strong knowledge of job area. Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline. May have broad knowledge of project management. Bachelor s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Experience in solving electronic packaging or antenna packaging trades under environmental conditions.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite
- Experience in design, materials and processes related to Electronics Packaging and/ or Antenna Packaging.
- Strong working knowledge of CAD, CREO and AutoCAD and versed in drafting standards per ASME Y14.5M-1994 and GD&T
- Require experience in machine shop practices, composite construction, and fixture design for assembly, manufacturing tooling and test.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with Antenna design, materials and processes.
- Material and Process Knowledge applicable to product in very high temperature, hypersonic environments.
- Experience in environmental qualification of product including familiarity with Mil-STD-810, DO160 and RCC 319.
- Knowledge of composite construction.
- Experience with machined, plastic and sheet metal part design.
- Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFMA) experience.
- Experience with Earned Value Management cost and schedule practices
