About the Role:Grade Level (for internal use):09Job Description - Senior Specialist, Divisional Strategy and M&ARole: Senior Specialist, Divisional Strategy and M&ALocation: New YorkThe Team: The MI Strategy & M&A team is responsible for guiding the overall strategy of the Market Intelligence division of S&P Global. In addition to setting long-term strategic ambitions for the division, the team leads all acquisitions and divestitures, corporate development/strategic partnerships, long-term financial planning, and competitive intelligence. This small, nimble team is responsible for evaluating all significant new investments for Market Intelligence and defining the requirements for delivering future growth.Responsibilities and Impact: Partner with business leaders across the division to shape and execute MI's growth strategy. Report to an Associate Director of Strategy and M&A and lead or support a wide range of strategic initiatives and select M&A projects, in accordance with the division's top priorities. Inform and influence high impact decisions by the division's top leadership, including the President and CFO.
  • Directly impact MI's strategic growth initiatives. Sit on the cutting edge of future client needs, competitive positioning, market trends and emerging technologies.
  • Gain exposure to MI's senior management team and deliver business-critical thought leadership and insights.
  • Develop deep and wide expertise across all facets of Market Intelligence's business, including central functions, product and commercial.

  • Assist in developing 1-to 5-year strategic planning processes, with direct ownership over key work streams. In partnership with MI FP&A, help develop the financial forecasts that support and enable our strategic plan.
  • Conduct market and competitive landscape research to ensure that the business is well-positioned to leverage external opportunities and manage potential threats.
  • Analyze the divisional business portfolio to identify opportunities for optimization, including new investments, divestitures, and other strategic options.
  • Partner with MI's product, commercial and functional teams to build our growth strategies, develop business cases to support their execution and establish KPIs to monitor their performance.
  • Lead the creation of materials for strategic meetings, including Board meetings, Strategic Business Reviews, and quarterly earnings preparation.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Staff to support division President's engagements, such as external customer engagements and internal strategy meetings.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including communications, sales & marketing, people, technology, and finance to support process improvement and problem-solving.
  • Perform research necessary to build, support, or challenge business strategy for large-scale initiatives and to investigate and/or resolve outstanding questions.
  • Source, analyze, and derive insights from internal and external data sources to support data-driven strategic decision-making.
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree (or equivalent); major in Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience required. Prior strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or M&A experience strongly preferred; knowledge of B2B information services and/or financial information services a plus.
  • Demonstrable experience and robust prior training in developing strategic frameworks, applying them to complex business problems and translating them into practical, actionable project plans.
  • Skilled at communicating strategic narratives clearly and simply in PowerPoint. Strong slide design capabilities and exceptional attention to detail required.
  • Self-motivated worker with experience developing organic and inorganic business strategies and financial models with modest manager guidance.
  • Collaborative team player with effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Functional experience working with and analyzing company financial statements.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations to senior stakeholders. Background in statistics a plus
  • Interested and aware of market trends with the ability to explain how events impact our business.
  • Proactive, with an innate sense of urgency and accountability; able to deliver results with short lead-times.
  • Ambitious and career oriented with an interest in developing a career at S&P Global.
Compensation/Benefits Information (This section is only applicable to US candidates):S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $66,344 - $133,100. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
