Department: MMF Finance Shift: Primarily Days (United States of America) Employee Type: Regular Per Diem Type (if applicable): Minimum Pay Range: $57.60 - $72.00 Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Staff Accountant of the MMF Finance Department performs accounting functions in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Reviews and reconciles various asset and liability accounts to ensure accuracy, maintains the hospital general ledger system and participates in the preparation of financial statements and reports. Prepares various reports for federal and state regulatory agencies, provides information and assistance to organizational leadership, consultants and external auditors. Also provides assistance in the preparation of Marshall Medical Center's operating budget. Position-specific responsibilities include maintaining banking relationships, managing bond trustee accounts, administration of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system security and configuration, supporting the ERP Payroll function, cost reporting and related audit support, OSHPD (CA Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) reporting, non-profit (990) tax filings, and calculating estimated reimbursement for third party contracts as well as charity and bad debt estimates. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Staff Accountant required. (In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years' experience in a healthcare finance position(s) reflecting progressive experience in financial analysis, accounting, healthcare cost accounting, and process improvement/automation with no less than 2 years as a Senior Financial Analyst or Senior Staff Accountant in a healthcare environment may be considered acceptable.) Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant (CPA/CMA) preferred Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) a plus. Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Google Mail and Excel. Microsoft Access knowledge desired. Experience in variable budgeting, data conversions and facilitation of software upgrades/conversions. Workday ERP system user and reporting experience a plus. Skills: Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills 10-key by touch and typing 40+CWPM Ability to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions, reprioritize workload as needed, handle multiple projects at once and meet deadlines. Ability to translate financial accounting issues to non-financial managers.
