Job Description:
The Storage Engineer will focus on defining requirements and developing architect and design documentation for Windows and Linux based systems, and determining backup & storage solutions that meet the customer's requirements.You will provide technical and management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments, establish goals and plans that meet project objectives for implementing solutions for storage and maintenance of data and backing it up, and apply domain and expert technical knowledge.The Senior Storage Engineer directs and controls activities for the client, having overall responsibility for financial management, methods, and staffing to ensure that technical requirements are met. Interactions involve client negotiations and interfacing with senior management.Decision-making and domain knowledge may have a critical impact on overall project implementation. May supervise others.- Understand server and storage requirements- Actively participate in technical meetings to suggest new ways to provide storage with backup options, secured access, and better efficiency- Conduct capacity planning and tweaking performance for storage and backup environments- Assist dependent teams with requirements gathering, configuration, and testing- Maintain documentation of the existing technology and solutions- Resolve server, data storage, and application integration issues- Design, configure, support, and administer enterprise-wide server and storage solutions for all on-prem and cloud services- Provide technical administration to include troubleshooting support, break-fix operations, patching, and other day-to-day activities required to maintain the health of servers, on-prem, and cloud applications and services- Assist in developing plans for disaster recovery, including implementing backup and storing procedures of data- Escalate and work closely with product vendors to support the technical environment- Upgrade, implement, monitor policies, and procedures to ensure steady storage provisioning, protection of data, and adherence to complianceRequirements:- Interim Secret Clearance required prior to start and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance- Experience related to storage engineering and management experience - Experience engineering and operating large IT infrastructure (supporting at least 15,000 users across more than 100 sites)- Must have a current IAT Level II (Sec+ CE) or higher certification- Experience supporting government customers in secure environments, familiarity of government operating standards and applicable guidelines- Experience in performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation- Experience designing solutions for a Windows and/or RedHat Linux environment- Experience with the following Server and Storage technologies: Windows Azure, Amazon AWS, Google cloud, RedHat, Centos, NetApp, and so on- Cloud services, server and storage engineering experience requiredHypervisor, HCI, VMware administration, Nutanix, EMC or other hyper converge design, management and build experience- Relevant certifications preferred (Windows, RedHat Linux and Cloud (Azure, AWS, Google environments)- Working knowledge of operating systems and storage infrastructure, virtualization, DNS/DHCP, system backups, cloud technology, knowledge of multiprocessing, threading, concurrency, distributed systems, load balancing, high availability, and COOP/DR$500 sign on bonus and $3k moving expenses.
