Aspen is headquartered in Northborough, Mass.The Senior Sustainability Manager will provide strategic, tactical, and hands-on support to achieve Aspen's long-term sustainability goals, including achieving carbon neutrality by 2035. This role will focus on our climate impact and environmental portfolio, overseeing our emissions reduction strategy and be an integral part of our business and customer response teams. The position requires collaboration with key internal stakeholders on external reporting, investment and customer inquiries, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.The Senior Sustainability Manager will spearhead cross-functional projects to implement solutions aligned with Aspen's sustainability strategy. Strong organizational and program/project management skills are essential to optimize the performance of cross-functional teams pursuing ESG impact solutions.The candidate will be an experienced environmental and sustainability professional with at least 10 years of experience in ideally in manufacturing, identifying and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to execute ESG initiatives. Verifiable experience in GHG emissions accounting/inventory, reporting, and monitoring is required.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and drive Aspen's sustainability strategy in alignment with near-term and long-term goals.
    • Direct the reassessment of material topics for the enterprise, identifying areas for improvement and developing long-term strategies.
    • Communicate progress and risks to Aspen's sustainability goals to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
    • Oversee external sustainability reporting, including customer diligence requests, annual sustainability reports, and regulatory disclosures.
    • Manage the enterprise-wide reporting system for sustainability data.
    • Ensure compliance with emerging regional regulatory requirements, including SEC and CSRD/ESRS.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Partner with Aspen leadership to align sustainability initiatives with business objectives.
    • Collaborate with third-party partners, vendors, and utilities to support sustainability goals.
    • Develop and distribute KPIs to measure progress on sustainability initiatives.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams to develop energy management, waste reduction, water conservation, and sustainable design strategies.
  • Program Management:
    • Direct and manage multiple sustainability projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
    • Optimize the performance of cross-functional teams pursuing ESG impact solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:Required:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience managing sustainability programs for global manufacturing companies.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing sustainability challenges and initiatives.
  • Expertise in GHG accounting/inventory, reporting, monitoring, and verification, including knowledge of the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and experience with the Climate Registry.
  • Understanding of CDP, SEC, and CSRD sustainability reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge on frameworks, industry standards, SBTI, etc.
  • Excellent presentation/workshop skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and program/project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects to completion.
  • Ability to evaluate financial data and apply financial principles. Financial/accounting experience a plus.
  • Risk assessment experience.
Desired:
  • Experience with Tier 1 automotive supplier requirements.
  • Familiarity with corporate safety programs and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Ability to secure government incentives tied to sustainability, such as grants, tax credits, rebates, and subsidies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Frequently required to stand, sit, and use hand and finger dexterity.
  • Occasionally required to walk, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • Continually required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.
  • Occasionally exposed to extreme heat or cold (non-weather).
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 10 pounds.
