We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Tax Manager to lead our tax practice and contribute to the growth and success of our firm. The Senior Tax Manager will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining strong client relationships, expanding our business, and providing expert tax advisory services. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in public accounting, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to excellence.
Primary Objectives:
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, keeping them informed about the firm's service offerings and demonstrating how these services can benefit their organization.
- Market and promote the firm to potential clients, continually expanding the referral source database.
- Act as a Trusted Advisor to clients, providing expert guidance and strategic insights.
- Make informed decisions considering general economic and political trends and potential legislative changes affecting the business climate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Senior Tax Manager's essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage and coordinate tax compliance and tax advisory engagements from start to finish. Assure high level of clients' satisfaction and adjust to clients' expectations if appropriate. Resolve problems as they arise.
- Maintain contact with clients proactively throughout the year. This involves a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of their business rather than mere routine attendance to their immediate problems.
- Advise and assist clients with transaction planning, such as selecting or changing entity structure, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning and similar.
- Deal directly with the client's attorneys or brokers, taxing authority agents, and other third parties.
- Constantly improve efficiency of the firm by closely managing and developing staff and improving their performance. Communicate effectively with Seniors and Associates and establish clear expectations while delegating projects and assignments.
- Delegate work and empower staff, build and maintain effective engagement teams, utilize the strengths and capabilities of all team members, and address issues with underperformers.
- Actively participate in recruiting efforts
- Act as a role model for standards of professional excellence
- Embody the Dembo Jones perspective when evaluating, communicating, and implementing ideas, policies, and new initiatives
- Invoice clients on a regular basis, as appropriate. Assist with accounts receivable collections as necessary.
- Participate and be a lead in firm administrative functions as being on firm committees or the firm service area (professional services, real estate etc.)
- Participate and get involved in the community (boards, local groups, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field preferred
- 15 years progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
- CPA required, MBA a plus.
- Strong leadership skills
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong computer aptitude, including expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with Tax and Accounting software.
- A commitment to improving work processes through the use of technology.
