What you can expect as an Interior Senior Team Lead at West Star:

The Senior Team Lead is an hourly non-exempt position which requires an advanced knowledge of aircraft interior installations, scheduling, quoting and organizing. The job involves supervising team leads on installation, modifications, repairs, refurbishments and fabrication of aircraft interior components. The ability to evaluate manpower availability and reassign is essential. Training and maintaining workflow will be essential. Job duties will vary by type and scope as designated by the Manager. Will be required to work independently.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Independently manage installations by communicating with interior personnel and various other departmental staff, determining flow for completing assignments.
  • Perform quality checks, supervise and monitor team lead activity on a daily basis.
  • Perform training, coaching and mentoring of teams to develop the job knowledge and performance of Team Leads.
  • Prepare and deliver performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
  • Assist with engineering on design for major modification projects.
  • Coordinate with other departments to make schedules or adjustments to stay on schedule when challenges arise.
  • Work independently on projects when required.
  • Schedule interviews and evaluate potential candidates for hire.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager.
  • Knowledge of how to use Microsoft Office.

What you'll need to bring with you:

Your Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent. Supervisory training classes preferred. A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required.

Your Experience:

10+ years prior experience in aircraft component installation preferred. 5+ years heavy modification experience preferred.

5+ year supervisory experience preferred.

Your Initiative:

We're looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Able to process work with minimum supervision.

Your Sense of Responsibility:

Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.

Notify Manager in advance of shift starting if unable to work.

Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.

Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.

Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Assist in major modification work as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Lift and carry at least 70 lbs.

Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.

Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 feet in the air) using fall protection safety gear.

Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands with emphasis on grasping, feeling and finger dexterity.

Standing for long periods of time.

Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas.

Mental Requirements:

Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, Hazmat, etc.

Work with others in a professional manner.

Plan and organize procedures and operations.

Read various reports and blueprints.

Working Conditions:

The majority of work will be performed in a hangar or shop environment that can have extreme temperatures from hot to cold.

Work outside on the ramp on occasion.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used:

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Electrical power tools such as sanders, saws, power drills, etc.

Sheet metal cutters, glue guns, and metal benders.

Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.

Spray booth and all related equipment.
